| What's the story for this coming season? I hear rumors of teams dropping out of the league. Should we be trying to induce another team or two to join up??
7 Teams would be less fun than 8. 6 is not enough games. (Unless of course we play each other eight times over the course of the summer)
I'm just wondering cause it's time to start planning the 2009 campaign.

| We're not 100% sure what we are going to do next year, but leaning towards playing in the msbl.
Our pitching got a lot younger last year playing in forest park and a lot of our guys wouldnt be old enough to play in Cahokia next year. There's a meeting next week on I think Thursday, so I'll have a better idea on what we are going to do then.

| We're not running away from anybody.
That being said, the Red Sox were the best team in the league at the end of the year. No question in my mind the team that deserved to win, did.
But, that doesnt mean that we are afraid of you and running to an easier league. I enjoy good competition and if we do end up leaving Cahokia, I hope we find it in the msbl.
It's nothing personal, just the age brackets and rules suit our team better and that's why we are considering it.
From how the 18+ division is stacking up, it will be as competitive as any league around. And the top teams in the 25+ division are every bit as good as the top teams in FOY. Just not sure about the rest yet.
But, we're not running away.

| Here comes the debate on which league is better as far as talent. Top end teams in the FOY are as good as top end MSBL. The difference being there are just more good teams in the MSBL. In the 25 plus, there are 8 or 9 teams that could win the FOY on a given year. These teams could also lose to any top 4 FOY team.

| The top teams in the MSBL would not be as good if they had to play real baseball (7 innings in the field as well as hit) When you can free substitute all game your body last longer. When the MSBL plays a real baseball game instead of glorified softball then we can compare the 2 leagues.

| I disagree with your statement about the top teams not being as good playing real baseball. I don't know about the msbl teams as I've not seen enough of them to judge, but I know our team in Forest Park would have been MUCH better batting only 9 guys instead of 12-13 and occasionally 14 that we hit. Granted, our 10-12 was better than what would be found on most teams, but only playing my top 9 would have made us a much different team.

| I don't know if anyone cares but as far as "baseball" is concerned the Fountain of Youth is as close to ball as you can get (in this bistate area). Who bats 11 guys or more seriously!?!?!? And who counts ties!??!?!? The Bulls will play in the MSBL or some other crap feminization of baseball but we're still true to the game. Anyone want to play wood bats? (let's get 10 teams over here seriously)

| I understand your guys feeling on your way of playing baseball. The MSBL offers something else for players that may not necessarily think the same way whether it's feminized or glorified softball or whatever you wanna call it. In reality, using metal bats and playing 7 innings feminizes it too and is pretty close to softball itself. The problem I have is someone that emails me looking to join our league and then turns around and bashes us on another leagues forum. Unfortunatly our league is now full and no longer has room for the "Raging Bulls"
PS, kind of ironic someone actually said "The top teams in the MSBL would not be as good if they had to play real baseball (7 innings in the field as well as hit)" When did real baseball = 7 innings with aluminum bats?

| Don't you guys play baseball because you love to play and just like being around "the Game". You choose to play in this league or that league and follow the established rules for that league because you love to play, otherwise you'd find something else to do. I have played on dominant teams in the League and not so dominant teams and still enjoy watching our team play and enjoy watching all the other teams play. I like playing against the top teams and when we win (more like if we win), it's a bigger enjoyment for our team and me than being on a dominant team that wins all the time. Like I said, I've been there and done that, playing a five inning game and winning by 15 runs or more was OK, for awhile. I don't think too many people really care what teams are better in other leagues, what the other league rules are, etc. If you play in the FOY, just play the best you can, win and then shake the other teams hands and drink some beer afterwards.

| Agreed. Every league is going to have it's good teams and it's bad teams. Are the best teams in one league better than the best teams in another? Who knows, but probably not. The top teams in both leagues are probably pretty much equal whether either side likes it or not.
I do enjoy playing baseball for all the reasons you mentioned and I'm going to play in a league that suits my team the best and right now I'm sure which league that will be. Like I said, we're leaning towards the msbl. Both leagues have their strong and not so strong points. What it boils down to is where do my guys want to play? Well, many of my guys aren't old enough to play in Cahokia and everybody, including me is in favor of batting more than 9 guys. Whether you like it or not or think it ruins the game is your opinion and I can respect that. You might be right and you might be wrong, but either way my team prefers it, and we can't get that in FOY.

"In reality, using metal bats and playing 7 innings feminizes it too and is pretty close to softball itself."
I agree with you 100%. I was just trying to make a point. I can play 9 9 inning games in a week with the MSBL rules (and have done it), couldn't do that with FOY rules. And for the record, our team votes every year at the winter meeting (FOY) to switch to wood bats.

If I could play 4 or 5 or 6 games in a week instead of 2, to me, it's a no brainer.
As far as wood bats go, if foy switches to wood, that would be another strike against. Personally, I'm okay with it and i think cahokia would be a good field to play with wood, but the majority of my team would be against it.
Dang, Mark, go easy on us. If you don't want us to play in foy next year, just tell me!!!

| So you if you're tired in the FOY, you can't sit after 5 innings? I really don't see your rationale here. Anyone can sit out a couple innings in every game, you just can't come back in the FOY. It doesn't really matter to me, I just got a little offended. I'm certainly not here to argue. I'm with you on the wood bats though. That is why we are playing in the NABA in 2009. I'd rather play wood EVERY game. I even make my wood bats. For anyone that is interested, Carolina Clubs is moving from New York to Florida and don't wanna take their stock with them. They are selling them cheap and they are solid bats. http://www.carolinaclubs.com/

It's always a good competitive squad you throw out there that's fun to play against. I'd prefer you stay.

Right now, I'd say we're 90% sure we'll be playing in the msbl. There are still a couple of factors that could sway us one way or another, but I don't see them happening.

| I like that people take shit personally, that means they care. The misunderstanding between the MSBL's Jay and the Bulls was nothing more than that. We will play in that MSBL 18+ division in addition to Cahokia. Thanks to all those that had our back in this thread but it turns out that Jay is NOT a bad guy, he just took that smack talk as a personal face slap. He invests plenty of his personal time in the division he runs and I am sure anyone in his position would have felt and done the same thing. Lord knows I can be plenty fiesty too. (right #25? lllooolol)
In other smack talkings #45 you know Morgan. Don't sweat that he is a loud mouth just like you or I. This is just a case of friendly smack talk. We all know that shit just makes for more fun, just ask Big Sug. He knows how to come correct on the blah blah's. See you youngsters in the 18+, see you oldsters in Cahokia.
