I am putting together a toy drive for the less fortunate kids in the Coventry-West Warwick area over at my shop in coventry and would like to get the League involved.

I was thinking 10 toys per team at a $15 ceiling. That would allow us to donate at least 150 toys to the kids in the local area.

I am also going to post it on my beautiful sign out front to see if some local people would like to participate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think this would be a good way to get some positive press for us around the community aside from your drunken stuper that we are known for. I spoke with elf4elf and he agreed to help me get some stuff together. Just bouncing some ideas out there.

****Disclaimer i have no children so therefore i will not keep the toys or ask for receipts to return for cash. All proceeds will be DONATED!!!

I have to agree with Dutilly on this one...Even though you can be a pompas ass...it is a great idea. I think that we can get a few unwrapped gifts from a bunch of guys from club jogues.
I think it is a nice gesture on your behalf.

Not that what Artie did for MS is a bad thing, I think it is time for us to think of our league and family & friends also. I truley believe that you live in your back yard....you buy in your back yard. I know there has been some thought and idea tossed around about a way to honor Helen for what she did for the league, so why not a pre-opening day tournament in her honor & memory and take the proceeds and donate it to a local youth sport league...or a local school that might be having issues for there after school sports program..or something like that. It can only strenghthen our league for the good

I work for LEGO so you can count on a couple of those items. I will contact my bosses and see if maybe the company will make a larger donation. Of course, I have no idea where your comapny is. Please let me know.

I feel it's too weird posting such a serious message so Bob is short and Ian is balding. There.

I am in contact with the community center of coventry and am waiting for a call back to see where the best place to donate is.

My shop is Coventry safety right on 117 across the street from 116. Either myself or Kim who is in the office with me will take the donations. Im still working out the kinks but i'd like to get this thing rolling.

Lets try to spread this throughout the league as quick as possible and get behind it if you guys dont mind.

Hinske...I don't know who you are in contact with but if you need any help let me know. RIBCO (RI Brotherhood of Correctional Officers) does this every year. We adopt a family that is in need and we supply their entire Christmas for them and I'm sure the guys who arrange this have several contacts. Let me know. Also count me in I'll be by sometime this week to drop off some toys as well.

hinske im sure you have plenty of ideas but i just thought of one that might help also.

if the program still exists.....
the DECA program at coventry high school puts up those trees around town with the blue and pink cards on them with gift requests from needy families in town. not all of the cards get picked up so they might have some needs. also, im sure a lot of the guys in the league worked that program when they were in high school. just an idea.

Pretty Sad I have to say. I went into Hinske shop yesterday with my 2 yr old (who takes a shit every time he is in there) to give a few toys for his Toy drive and I was sick to see only 8 or 9 people could spare some time or a few bucks for a small gift....I hope people are doing some last minute gift shopping this weekend and remember to drop off something and represent you league and feel good about how you might have made somebody’s holiday at the same time.

Artie, forgot all the bull shit people are saying and get your ASS down there and donate to the cause...Regardless of what people say or do we did support yours. It was nice to hear that 1 member of our board made a donation. Rob Raymond you might not post but you drive buy there every day...Delpadre lets go....Micky D...Mac...Ernie..Mert...Ant 77...Mike & Ant Mansor....Eddie Martin….Mark & Eric from A-plus…Coventry Fire, we put in your boot now put something under the tree. Guys at Eaton, Shamrock, Harris, Stallions, Village Pub…something would be nice..

If you guys are to busy to do it your selves let Hinske know and make a cash donation and we will go this weekend and get toys

Guys please help this cause out. We are trying to do something good here. A lot of families are in need, not just our own.

Thanks,

Bob Brodeur

Thanks BOB. YOUR FAT

Just an Update Sue from the community center stopped in and picked up what we had so far which was a wopping 13 gifts. She is going to stop in a few more times. We have until the 17th. I think some of you can not have a couple beers for a night and drop somthing off.

Sue said they are not getting the help that they have in previouse years. She was very appreciative of what we have done thus far.

EW wins the awsome award for his donations what a sensitive homo he is.

I haven't forgotten. I'll be by tomorrow afternoon. I have some pretty cool LEGO toys...like 5 or 6 toys and a couple of LEGO t-shirts. They're really only appropriate for boys, but that's all I could get at the employee store.

Thanks Guapo, Anything helps.

Just an update we are up to 42 Toys wich is good, but i think we can do much better than that. We have until Wed December 17th to get as many as we can.

Those of you who like to complain about the town not helping us out enough should maybe give back to the community a little to promote good will. One hand washes the other. The more we do good the more apt they are to help out when we need somthing. Be nice to change the perception in the town of the league. Ive spoken with some of my contacts in the town and they are really appreciating the effort.

Also if guys can't get out and grab somthing they are taking donations in form of a check.

The checks can be made payable to TIS THE SEASON. They will approriate the funds to the right channels.

Thanks for the help and keep up the good work.

Jeremy

To all the Guys at Coventry Fire...THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your more then necessary donation...Its people like you guys that are going to make some Christmas a lot better this year. I know that the money that goes in the boot is a national thing and you guys didn't have to go the extra distance like you did but I will when I see the trucks out again....THANK YOU

Great job guys thank you for the help! We were able to donate well over 200 toys to the kids in the community. Not bad for a two week push.

We also had the Kent County Times come down snap some photos and do a piece on what we accomplished. Thanks for the help again.

nice job guys! Thanks to everyone who went to Hinskeville and dropped off a toy. Special thanks to Jeremy for hosting the event and keeping just a few of the toys....and not even the best ones..for his newphews. Extra thanks to Gopher Productions for getting the league some good press. Filling the police blotter of the Kent County Times is not necessarily good press. This is. Merry Christmas

Just bought the Kent County Times. They wrote a nice article about the Coventry Mens Softball League and the toy drive. Big Fat picture of Gopher and Hinske on the front page..with the emphasis on fat. And who the fuck is Depetella's Insurance. Seriously, can Gopher Productions fuck up any more often. My name is butchered almost 10 times a day..but that is the most bastardized version ever.
