| Just wondering about how many lifetime home runs Mike O'Conner has hit in this league. Anyone have a guess? I don't know but he sure has killed us. Best player to ever play in this league for sure.

| My guess would be that about 40% of the HRs ever hit at that field are his.
I know Billy gave up 2 to him last year. So did Spot. I'm sure somebody else gave up at least another one to him.

| This is just a guess - probably around 425 give or take 50 or so. I know he has hit 15 or so every year for 20+ years. Some years he may have hit 25-30. I agree he has to be one of the best or the best player in league history.

| That's it, guess we'll have to start calling him Crash from now on. All-time FOY home run leader. A dubious distinction.

| The fact that it's February and we're discussing how many career home runs Mike O. has in Cahokia shows how sick and disturbed some of us are.
I would argue the 15 home runs a year, because I'm pretty sure he hits about 8 or so of us every year.

| I think we have the all time leader recognized pretty quickly and accurately. Who do you think is second. I have a couple people in mind. Could any of the old timers enter into this discussion?

| Cardinal wise, Mike McEntire could hit some bombs but wouldn't have a clue how many. Plus teams like Charlies had some studs but that was a little before my time. Kenny McHale should probably be mentioned. Plunkett has hit his share over quite a few years too. Hell Carl used to hit about 10 a year for many years.

| I have to agree about Mike O as the all-time home run king. He is burned into my memory for one he hit against the Red Sox on a hot July night in 1992. The lowly Red Sox had the mighty Whistle Stop one out away from defeat, when out of the darkness strolled Mike O coming from a softball game. He stepped to the plate and hit a 2-run bomb to bring us back to reality. There have been teams that had a collection of guys worth mentioning. They did not put up prodigious numbers, but in their respective line-ups they afforded themselves well.
The Legion had Carl Scheumbaur, Mike Moenke and Mike Olander. Whistle Stop besides Mike had Kevin Mantz. The Phillies who morphed into the A's had Terry Cline, Kenny Hines, and Greg Laske. They continued that tradition with John Lange, Scott Posey, Mike Crossman. Mike Olander also played with those teams. T-Rex even though they were here only a few years, they had a few guys who could put them over the boards. There mentions are Bob Leggett, Dean Gordon and Brad Stevenson. The Red Sox never had a lot of prolific power but we've had some bright spots. Chris Bonebrake had three double digit seasons in the late ninties and 2001. Jim Hall deserves mention for his consistent numbers over the years. Our new power threat is Jake Tippee, who had a double digit season after joining our team in June. Three guys that deserve mention are clutch hitters with power. They are Scott Goodrich, Steve Kraus and Jeff Bell. JB, you have broken my heart a few times.

| Just pitch Mr. Bell inside and he'll take the pitch everytime as he leans into the the plate when he strides. He always thinks it's a ball because it almost hits him. He hits line drives all the time and is a tough out.

| Well for a short duration of 8 games, the Bulls had Mike Robertson. He hit 12 home runs in 8 games played in 2006 season. Too bad he didn't stick around. Ask the Chiefs about 3 homeruns in a row against them that year. We were so bad that we still lost that game. He was also a really good centerfielder.

| I've played against Mike Robertson and with him part of a season and he is arguably the best hitter I've come across in amateur baseball around this area. And yes, he is a very good outfielder. If you try to take the extra base on him, you're out by 10 feet. The only other person that comes to mind to rival him is Jeff Peer, if any of you know him.

Even if he only averages 5-6 a year, that's what, 175-200 bombs?

| Posey, Lange & Crossman have hit many a home run in this league and for 15-20 years. As a first baseman I can assure you it was no picnic with Lange up, especially having to hold a runner on, usually because Grasle walked the guy in front of him.

....and I will take a full season of Eric over any of these guys.

| I remember the Mike Robertson Bulls/Chiefs game. He made a couple of diving catches in center that game too. Next time he came up we were just going to roll the ball over the plate.
Lange's got the most pure power I've ever seen (I play 2B from short right when he's up), but Mike O'Connor is the best hitter.

| Best player I've seen was from the A's. I'm terrible with names and I think he quit 1 or 2 years ago, but he was the centerfielder that batted lead-off. He could hit for power, fastest guy in the league and stole 2nd and 3rd many times and had a good arm. He could pitch when needed too. Sarge - Who's Eric and what team is he on?

| How about the longest home runs out there. I've seen Lange hit some balls that might still be going.Tony Herron hit a bomb to center that went over the white building.Steve Krauss hit one of the longest i've seen last year.Butch McDowell of our team against Kenny Price a couple years ago hit the top of the light pole in left center and the ball almost came back to the infield.

John Lange also hit a grand slam against the Bulls that cleared the lights last year.
Mike O tagged Billy for a pretty long one last year too.

| I did leave " Ace" Johnson off the list by mistake, but he deserves to be on the list.
The Eric is Eric Greenwalt who had a twenty bomb season a few yesrs back. If he would have played consistently his overall numbers would be impressive.
KG doesn't hit people, he's just near-sided.
