Ok we have another team putting in fake stats...there is no way that Dugas has 4 triples..he would have to hit it on the 3rd green at coventry pines if he was playing at fish hill to have a shot

I do the stats for our team and yes, he is hitting legit triples. A few off the fence here and there and the best one, a triple off the top of the fence at Washington Oak...hit the top of the fence and actually bounced up. We're having a bet: Who will homer first, Dugas or Ortiz?

The Coventry fields are very right-hander friendly, so I agree, Ernie. I'm just gonna keep swinging hard and let the ball go where it goes.

Nothing against Ryman, who is clearly a much improved hitter, but HR's are a very overrated statistic. There are many hitters in this league that could easily hit more HR's if they chose to, but solo HR's are a killer on a good team. Look at D-Train. He hit 20+ last year and so far he hasn't hit a single one. It has more to do with the situations he has been in and us adding HR guys like the Keenan brothers than his hitting. Ray Marot from PNA is another guy who could hit many more HR's if he chose to but would rather take his singles and doubles when there is no one on base.

deano hes second in the league in rbis and has only hit one solo. rbis arent overated . hes been playing tourney and nightleague ball and has been a complete hitter .some of the big boys are off to a slow start and its between him and goat for our early mvp. hes got a wlakoff 3 run shot to boot. i hope he keeps it up hes been a great addition as well as a team player who hasnt bitched about anything. RYMAN IGNORE EVERYTHING I JUST SAID YOU STINK !!

I you reread my post you will that I never said anything negative about Ryman who seems like a candidate for most improved player and strikes me as a pretty nice guy as well. I've never used this forum for negative comments about any particular person. My point was, HR's are a bit overrated given the difference in dimensions of our various fields and the fact that on some teams you have to share the HR's with several other guys who can hit it out. I bet there are 25 guys who could lead the league in HR's if they disregarded the team aspect of the game and swung for the short fences every AB. That's all.

Yeah Artie, I iknew there was no easy way to make my point about HR's without sounding like I was coming down on Ryman's accomplishments. I tried. Old timers like me are just sensitive about the significance the HR has received in the last few years.

What ElGuapo means is that there are a lot of hr hitter in the league and some hit them just to hit where smarter guys hit 2-3 hrs insteads of solos.
This game has become bh,bh,bh,hr.If you can get a hit don't just swing for the hr leave it for the next guy. 2outs any hr is good with men on base.
Better ElGuapo, If we meet you in the playoff's you know the result will be different vs. us
We found your teams weakness just didn't want to take advantage of Smitty and you boys the first time around.
Man I shouldnt have taken those 4 perks I can't read what the hell I typing
BTW EW how come everyone says if you stop short Dutilly's face goes up/in your ass

I totally appreciate what you have to say, Guapo, and understand it too. Any team would love to constantly hit 3 singles then a homerun all game. A lot of the beauty of this league is homerun preservation. That doesn't always mean only hitting them when there are loaded bases, but hitting them at key times. Often I've seen a solo homerun start a game winning rally for a team. Let's also not overlook that this game is about not making outs, and if you have homeruns to hit and you get into one (regardless of who's on base), you didn't make an out and you added to your team's score. I say just swing hard and let the ball go where it goes. Don't overthink. This game isn't about overthinking. If it were, I'd have to take up badminton.

What you didn't hear was that Riley is the caboose. If I stop short the whole train gets derailed.
