I noticed that the elite league gets two umpires for their games. Do the other leagues get two? Also, by allowing A teams to pick up 2 elite players, doesn't that make some of those teams elite?? Just curious!

Every league gets 2 umpires this year. We have an issue with some umpires not showing up which John and I both spent a total of about a half hour on the phone last night trying to get to the bottom of. It happened Thursday night and one night the week before. Hopefully this gets things straightened out.

"A" league teams get 3 "Elite" players. They can not pick up other "Elite" players if those Elite players are not there. It doesn't make them "Elite" teams, it makes them "A" teams. This rule was talked about at BOTH league meetings and on here numerous times.

The idea was to help some of the teams that were going to be in the A league be competitive. I think it's going to work out well.

not trying to slam you or anything. I think you have done a pretty nice job running the league since you started, much better than the "Baker" days. Just a little confused as to what makes an elite team elite. Yeah, I know, should've went to the meetings. Thanks for the umpire explanation though, that explains a lot.

The Elite teams are the 3 teams who have dominated the top men's league since I've been with the league. Then I got Ron Gill to bring his team over from Carbondale where they won that summer league last year. Then Casey Morris was one of the stronger/younger teams in the A league last year and they wanted to play up.

I wanted 5 teams in the top league and that's what I got. They are the top teams that were going to play in the league so I moved them into their own division. This helped with the other teams who had to play them to have more competitive games by not playing them now, which is what they wanted.

That's pretty much it. Then since the Carbondale league folded, we're allowing each A team to have 3 elite players. This allows the level of play to be higher and allows some guys to play more than one time a night.
