| I have not posted all year but we just played at 10am and Cahokia was cancelled before that game started when we played at 5:30pm today. Why did we fix the field there. How if it is fixed could it not be playable by at least 5:30pm if the quick downpour was gone by 9am-ish and it is sunny as all get out now. The 10am game we played was damp but very playable. We won by the way. Way to solve our problems.

| Considering your game was 60 miles from Cahokia this morning, do you really think you can compare the two fields?

| I live about 10 miles from there and when I woke up at 6:30 it was raining already. Judging by the water running down my street, it had been raining and raining hard for awhile and didn't stop until around 8:30. If the field wasn't fixed, we wouldn't be playing tomorrow. I drove by there at 6 tonight and today was a legit rainout. So was Harris Stowe and Sauget. Ozzie's is a long way away. See you tomorrow.

| Because it rained. When water and dirt get mixed together it creates MUD. When you get MUD it makes playing baseball very difficult and injuries could be the result of such stupid actions. But your right we could have got about 10 guys together (probably no Bulls) just so the Bulls could play at 5:30.I don't think so.This is coming from a team who didn't want to get the field done, didn't give any money and there the first team to bitch.BULL SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| After seeing the field today I could understand how we did not play yesterday. We (+ me) could have gone out there during the day to prep the infield, but there would have been major issues with left field and other areas (like near the dugouts). Sorry to jump the gun but we have had 10 rain outs in Cahokia alone. Props on the infield job. Again sorry. Always willing to admit when I am in the wrong. As to the dumbass, with the trully smartass remarks, that says we did not pay. We are going to have another fundraiser. We don't pay for baseball or beer. That's how we roll. We are even willing to share some beer with opposition.

| Everybody relax. We are making every effort to get games played. I don't want to bore you with mundane details about Dan Nicholson and Trevor Herderhorst spending all day Friday at the ballpark trying to whip the field into shape after Thursday's rain. I don't want to tell you about their feelings Saturday at 7am as they were preparing the field and then came the cloudburst. We made major strides this past week to correct years of field problems only to be setback by consistent rainstorms. Anybody who saw the field today has to know we are moving in the right direction.
We have 33 league rainouts and as always, we will make every attempt play those games. Having said that, be ready for a jammed-up schedule. August 31 ends the regular season and when the dust settles we will seed and start playoffs after Labor Day.
So quit pissing and moaning and be ready to play ball.
P.S. We don't need amateur groundskeepers mucking up the field with their lame attempts to satisfy their selfish needs to play only their game.

| First off- well put, Commish. Being fairly new to the FOY league, I am truly an amateur and have no groundskeeping ability whatsoever. I have no idea how to use a hose or sand, let alone a rake. (I might even have trouble finding the long end of a broom.) I was also unaware that you've hired professsional groundskeepers. Far be it from US to step on their toes and ruin the stellar work that's been done thus far by offering to help. I apologize, and promise to never pick up a garden tool in Cahokia (if i happen to recognize one).
Secondly, let me say that I stand with my team captains 100% on principle when it comes to the field work. We didn't agree on the decision, the price, or the funding for this project. I am aware of no league vote or any alternatives explored. Simply- "We just signed up to do this, now give us money." So when someone who don't have the luxury of living 10 minutes from the park asks a legitimate question about our "NEW AND IMPROVED" field, I would hope that we would be given a reasonable response. Thank you for that courtesy, Bud25.
That said, pirates 11... I had also made it clear that if the league wanted $10, $25, or whatever, when push came to shove I'd buck up. How much have you kicked in? Is your check in the mail? If so, where should I send one? Was I supposed to pay someone this money during the last SIX rainouts our team had? Maybe I should have driven from Saint Peters to Cahokia and put it under a rock. Hopefully it would have gotten to the right people.
Anyone can be sarcastic, but there's a line you crossed, dick.
Don't start running your mouth about who won't pay, or about who would or wouldn't show up to work on the field. We've had beers ready for EVERYONE and people on standby to put elbow grease into the field. I've never gotten that call. So before you start throwing people you don't know under the bus, get your shit straight.

| Dude- For one thing I have been busting my ass on this field for 13+ years from dugouts to the dirt. So I think i've earned the right to say whatever the fuck I want about the field. That field is a touchy subject to me so seeing it get professionally done means a little more to me than most people.Yes- we have paid and are willing to pay more, whatever it takes to keep my ass from raking before games.I like your team, your all a bunch of good guys so dont take anything i say personally. So any negative remark made on the forum about the field pisses me off. Sorry, thats just me!I'd get to know me first before you call me a dick, just some good advice.Lets just play ball and have some fun out there thats what its all about isn't it

| im getting tired of guys talking trash about our team on here before they know anything. i dont know pirates11, and he probably doesnt know me, so we might both be dicks. most likely not. so say what you want to about the field, youve earned it. but when you say stuff like "(probably no bulls)" and "This is coming from a team who didn't want to get the field done, didn't give any money and there the first team to bitch. BULL SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" it includes me. why should any i not take that personally? i wanted to get the field done, and im willing to pay for it. i dont agree with how the field repair was handled, but its already done. hell i was even ready to donate my old riding mower to the league just so we could start the season on time. but youre right about getting out there and having fun. so if you want to call someone out, do it individually. that way you might only come across like a dick to one guy. just happens that this time you got a couple of guys that are ready to do as much as you.

| Pirates 11 - for the record I did not call you a dumbass till after I heard from you/"got to know you." These were my first posts. I just want to have fun too and I totally appreciate everything you have done all the years especially last year how much Ben and yourself worked. Others too, I am sure. Unlike my coach I do know what a rake and hose look like and worked on fields which were not Cahokia for many years. Also, I live on the outskirts of SoCo and drove all the way to O'Fallon on Sat. I got to see rain everywhere and did not expect that Cahokia got it as bad as that. Commish that was a great post. I think the world of everyone in the Cahokia FOY. Chuck is a little goofy. lol. But makes the league that much more enjoyable. Also, I do not care how long we play as long as we play every game. I propose triple headers from our team. The Subject line was my question and I got good answers (from most). Remember, we have beer.

| Wow, pretty heated discussion yet again about this field. Let's get some nice weather before jumping to conclusions about the field. I thought the infield looked amazing yesterday, considering where it had come from. I've been around this field for 25 of my 30 years and I've never seen it look this good. 1 or 2 nice days with rain in between is going to make any field look and play like shit. Bulls, you better switch your focus to the 2-5 juggernaut that is Curley's baseball.

| im not trying to make any enemies here, i'm sure you're all great guys and have done wonders for the field, or else you wouldn't be part of the handful of people posting here. i just want everybody to get a fair shake BEFORE somebody starts throwing whole teams under the bus over a simple question. like i said, there's some guys here willing to do as much as you do to go the extra mile (literally and figuratively) to make our field nice.
dick. not name calling, just figured it wouldnt be a good post without the word 'dick' in it a few times.
best regards, - dick

| Just for the record I'm not "BullsHit" not really sure who is. Also, I've spoken with Danny and everything is cool. We're a league full of guys who love the game and just wanna play - that's what makes it so great. That's also what causes tempers to get short when we aren't playing...
Now, EVERYBODY LOVE EVERYBODY!

| Indirectly we did vote on the work. When seven teams bucked-up, I notified Lammereaux to tell the laser company to procede. The teams that have had a chance to play have to admit it has been a great and needed improvement.
The P.S. in my previous post was a reference to Timo Banks. On Wednesday May 27th he appeared at the ballpark unsolicited and took it upon himself to attempt to remove the small puddle that plagues the interior notch at third base. He was advised by Dan Nicholson that he going to worsen the aera, which he did. His comments to Dan were that "we need to play this game". His "Bigfoot style" footprints were still visible Sunday morning as we were trying prepare the field. It rained later Wednesday and no game was played anyway. Dan Nicholson is the groundskeeper and what he says on playability is in stone. Dan has knowledge on field prep and has done a great job in his limited oppurtunity.
That having been said, we need to stop the pissing match and pull together as an organization. We have a greatly improved facility. We need to focus on the fund raising event June 20th and make it a success. The goals are to retire the balance and have a successfull season.
