Hey, I know its not really on the top of anyone's list of most important stats, like bombs and best player in the state and stuff.. But are there a few, if any, legit base stealers around?

Dont have to worry about Park stealing any bases as the average age of the starting line up is 35.

although I did watch Duda steal when you were up 9-0 against Lakers or Pub (some park national team) in last year's state tourney. He ended up scoring and you won 10 or 11-0. I thought that was pretty bush league...

Thats not bush.

Tourney time you keep playing until the game is over. Anything can happen come Tourney time. By 10 running Pub (I believe that is who it was) that game Park was able to save pitching for later in the tourney.

it was the 8th or 9th inning of the game - and if that would have happen to Park I am sure the next guy would have been hit in the back. So it being the last inning - how many arms do you think were saved by stealing to ten run whatever team it was?
With all of the Ex-pros on that team you would think they would get it. But as Old Timer has put it, they are the best - so I guess they are in a League of their own...

As a kid you are taught to play hard the entire game. How do you tell a base stealer to just stop playing? I think that's more embarrassing when the team up by 8, 9, couple 13, 14 runs just stops playing like not moving up on the base paths. Usually the people who whine about teams that play hard until the end are the people playing on the opposing squad losing 9-0. If you don't like it, then score more runs.

Do you tell a guy not to bunt then as well? if so, what exactly is the difference? All I have to say is Karma - it will get you in the behind if you dont respect the game and your opponent..... Hail to the Riverview (which has 10 great teams)!

Good point. Ask Park about that one. I believe the Pub was up 9 when one of the right handed hitters goes to base-hit bunt to get on, pulls back, and the next pitch is thrown at him but goes behind the hitter. Pitcher was a lefty. Amazing. Play hard until the end right.

Parks record speaks for itself and to do whatever in the state tourney to score runs is what it is.

I can say this over the years that more teams have tried to pull bush stuff against Park and that Park is not ever bush!

As far as ex-pros.....on Park hmmmmm lets see. Lindstorm played as high as AAA, Gabe Eikum threw one game for the Saints, Paulsen played independent ball in the early to mid 90's......Mike Reeder sho plays periodically played some affiliated ball and I believe Shane Wright did as well.

That sure is not too many pros. Tall and Lanky you probably have more MLB friends then all of Park together.

I didnt say the Park team was/is bush - I dont believe that. Just thought what I saw on that one play last year was (Park Stolen base). Its not a big deal - but I still think that with all the older vets on that team, you would understand the respect factor. 9-0 in the last inning with woodbats - very unlikely anyone in the State including Park or Tonka is coming back - especially if you saw how bad the opposing team looked that day - they couldnt hit air!
However, to say "never bush" - that is a subjective comment and people will have their opinions no matter what you or I believe. Everyone's SH** stinks sometimes - even yours Old Timer...

Again tall lankified and stately geeez you just keep forcing me to come at you.

You did not have to say Park was bush because you basically said iY when talking about the 9-0 steal of a base or whatever it was and throwing at guys backs...joke...

Park has never thrown at anyone on purpose to my knowledge even though I know the Angles pulled some of that crap on us in a state game...a game which had a little of every thing but left the Park National sqaud on the short end of the stick with their catcher wondering if he should actually square up with me or not......NOT!

As far as being up in a game and not choosing to steal a damn base in the tourney let me think back even though my memory is mostly failing me.

I believe it was three years ago or so......

Wesley won it that year over Park I believe.

Park was playing the Cobras and was down something like 11-3 it was the last two innings or so of the game....

.....Park came back to win 15-13, or something like that.

Lindstrom had like seven bibs and the Cobras had Park on the line.

Park won the game and to this date has a game ball dubbed the 16-15, 15-14, 14-13 or whatever ball....it was symbolism basically that the game is never over.

To steal whatever base or do any thing to win a game other then being bush in the tourney is what it is......

...anyone can beat anyone on any given day and to slight a club or pimp them or accuse them of being bush for stealing a damn base (ssecond base) for whatever the reason, for whatever the score and whatever the situation in the tourney is silly to say the least.

It is state tourney so all bets aside.

Of all the post on here the one that refers to Park as bush for stealing up 9-0 in the 8th or whatever upsets me the most.

Not that I care because Park would steal second base again in the tourney regardless if they were up 9-0 in whatever inning.

It is the tourney...if a club does not want to give up a stolen base in that type of situation then do something about it in order to stop the stolen base.

I had to vent.

PARK IS NOT BUSH AND HAS NEVER BEEN BUSH. IF THEY EVER WHERE BUSH IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EARLY 90'S AND ALL WE WOULD HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT CHIRPING ALOT LIKE MANY YOUNGER TEAMS ARE PRONE TO DO.

Chirping at who? I hate playing Park because all you guys do is complain, even if you are up by a ton. If we ever have to play you when Czar (don't know if that is the correct spelling) is umping I am turning around and going home.

and I do get it now O.T. - you stole out of respect for your opponent (that they could always come back). I can appreciate that.

The guys who hate playing Park and Tonka hate us because we are good. I can only speak for Park or rather myself....but with an average starting line up of around 34 and guys that have been around perhaps at times we have more to say then we should.....sometimes we are right and other times we are wrong.

However we do "get it" and that includes understanding the main reasons why some clubs hate us, hate playing us and whatever else ties into all of that.

Bottom line is due to alot of reasons there are many teams in all classes that respect us. For the ones that don't we honestly do not care at all

I actually don't mind playing Tonka, they play hard and they don't complain nearly as much as Park. I respect Park for the fact that they have really good players and they keep competing (I don't mind stealing when up by 9,10,11 etc) but when a call goes against them (rarely) it seems that the WHOLE team bitches (loudly) and has even all came out of the dugout and swarmed the umpires. I understand arguing calls that are disagreed with, but I don't understand the amount of players that have to join the argument.

That is about the only time Park complains is when we feel umps blow a call. As far as us rarely getting calls blown against us THAT IS FREAKING HILARIOUS but I don't even want to get into it.

As far as guys coming out of the dugout I can exlplain that......atleast half our team has coached at no lower then varsity high school level and off the top of my head we have seven guys who are presently coaching at the collegiate level or did in the past.

Also Chris Johnson does an outstanding job of running our club from top to bottom however he is obvisouly an atypical "manager" as he always plays.

Take all of these things into consideration and then add our older ages into it plus the fact that probably 1/3 of the club has umpired to some extent you get a team who can be vocal, and at times if we feel it is necc we will speak up.

Usually Johnson, myself, or a couple other guys will calm everyone down really fast.....

you know what? That is what it is and will never change until half the club retires all at once.
