First round:
Stockmen's Irish swept Tri-City Shark
Green Mill beat White Bear Township in three games
No idea about Woodbury/St. Anthony

Second round:
Stockmen's vs. Rooster
Green Mill vs. Stillwater
Woodbury/St. Anthony winner vs. Moe's

I believe woodbury beat the hogs. Thats weird too, because I clearly remember hogs fans and township fans saying they were going to take a run at it. Neither of them made it to the final round. Watch out for stillwater, they have been playing good baseball lately...

Stillwater has a couple of guys back who havent played in awhile, making their lineup tough. Key for them is going to be pitching.

Stockmens will win one game for sure with Wolf on the mound and I see them advancing with their bats.

Dont really know much about Moe's, but I have seen Woodbury play and they shouldnt have much of a problem.

Going to be interesting to see how things turn out. Good luck to all!

(Hogs and Township better luck next year)

According to the Woodbury paper...Woodbury beat St. Anthony in three games earlier in the week.

And Woodbury plays White Bear Township tonight at White Bear and then at Woodbury, Bielenburg field 5, 7:30pm tomorrow night.

Anyone know what time the game is tonight at White Bear?

Woodbury plays Moes at Township tonight at 7 or 7:30. I don't think that is going to be a very fun series for both teams.

Moes > Woodbury

Didn't see the game last night, but Stockmen's website has them beating the Rooster 20-2 last night. Hard to believe the Rooster lost by that score, but baseball is a funny game. Website says Brandon Wolf will pitch for the Irish on Saturday at McGuire Field. I don't know who's on the mound for the Rooster.

I think its safe to say that Stockmen's and Moe's will be in state. The GM/Stillwater series is far from over. GM took a tough loss last night and will fire back hard I think.

I think Brandon Wolf has been more relaxed this year than I've ever seen him. He hasn't let things upset him and that's led to him doing a great job of mixing speeds and hitting spots. Best I've ever seen Brandon pitch...and that's saying something! (What the hell it is I'm not sure...but it's saying something!)

I just came to realize that this is Moes' first season to make the playoffs since they were on a "probation" year last year. Could this be the start to a class A dynasty?

Wolf has earned his keep so to speak that is certain.......he and his club will be matched up against atleast one very salty club/pitcher so to be continued.

As far as Moe's and a dynasty I have to readily admit I know absolutely nothing about the club other then what I have heard.

Yet honestly speaking the Skyline as compared to the Riverview, PN and SP is just not there yet.

Moe's may make a little noise but "dynasty" in the making is not going to happen.

I will get into my feeble picks once the brackets are out but off the top of my head unless one is Tonka, Park, Wesley, Edge, Frieght, and perhaps Pub you need not apply.

To be continued but Skyline is not in the mix this year.....

....Green Mill made a great run last year, got hot and was the second best team in the tourney last year but Skyline is not going to produce that type of club this year period!

OT...I wouldn't bet against SLP or Tonka as they have veteran players who have been there and done that. The Skyline, if it's possible, is actually younger this year than it was last year. There are a number of scrappy teams, but I also don't see a team from Skyline making it to the Championship game. If a few of the teams in Skyline can keep their core group together for another few years then Tonka and SLP will have most of the vets hanging out playing wiffle ball at the nursing home and the East side will make a bit more noise. Until then the East will be competitive, but not worth betting on.

Stillwater beat Green Mill yesterday 6-1. The Loggers are starting to play very well.

Im sick of everybody thinking the Skyline league is a joke. We will soon see how everything pans out, but Im thinking the Skyline will have at least on team in the top 3 at state.

Good Luck to all!

I know I never said the Skyline was a "joke." All I said was the Skyline is not there yet with the other leagues.

How can they be a joke when GM took second last year, who was playing very well and just ran into a veteran Park team who caught fire.....no one would have beaten Park last year.

With that being said here is my prediction for the Skyline in this years tourney.

Skyline #1 in their first game will either play Pub, or probably AF and that is no easy task. If they win that game they get the winner of Wesley or Tonka. If they loose their first game they then get the looser of Tonka or Wesley.

Skyline #1 is two and out.

As for Skyline #2 they get either Edina or Bandits which could go either way but if they win that they get Shamrocks.......Skyline #2 will go 1-2 at best.

Skyline #3 plays Mtka first game so they fall to the loosers bracket and face either Pub or Air Frieght which they will loose.....Skyline #3 is 0-2.

Conclusion: I would be very suprised if the three Skyline clubs win more then two games combined between the three of them.

Not because they are a terrible league but the bracket for them this year is absolutely no good.

OT, you are assuming that averages will turn out with the scenario you've painted. However, tournaments always throw averages for a loop. While you may "probably" be correct, there are other factors that will come into play and very likely skew your prognostication. Last years Green Mill team is a perfect example of how tournaments result in outcomes that go against the odds. While I think the Skyline has yet to prove itself, I also think they are better than you give them credit for. Perhaps the winds are changing...perhaps.

Tiny.....I agree with you to some extent however I was not talking about averages I was talking about who the better teams are.

The fact is that the Skyline has a brutal bracket ahead of them especially for the number one seed which is Moes? or probably will be Moes.

I don't know much about Moe's other then what I have heard which is good things, however facing Pub or AF followed by Tonka or Wesley...well I just don't see any more then a 1-1 start for the #1 Skyline/Moe's club.

Skyline #2 could easily beat Edina or the Bandits because those two clubs are young and up and down all year but if they win it is onto Shamrocks.....best case scenario for Skyline #2 is 1-1 as well.

Stockmens as the Skyline #3 drew Tonka so that is obviously tough match up and if they loose that game they face Pub or AF in their first loosers bracket game.....

All I was saying is the match ups are not looking good for the Skyline clubs.

Lastly perhaps others would know as I don't but from what I have heard Moe's has been good this year but not many think they are nearly as good of a club as Green Mill was last year.

We shall all see soon enough.

Green Mill didnt really lose anyone from last year. They struggled getting all the players to show up, but they still had the same core group.

I still feel that the Skyline teams will suprise teams in the Tourny. Only time will tell

Good Luck!

Green Mill lost their two best pitchers (one was also a regular in the outfield) and another pitcher that was probably #4 last year, a catcher now playing in the northwoods, and the starting outfield was out for pretty much all of July. So no, the team was not the same as last year.

Getting guys to games was also an issue.
