Thanks to your help in spreading the word last year, the Mercer University Cheerleading Team was able to recruit 10 freshmen and 2 transfers for this year’s team! Our squad is stronger than ever and we will be adding an equal sized freshman class for the 2010-11 school year.
We will be hosting a Senior Recruit Practice at the end of November, once the high school competition season has concluded. This practice will be by invitation only, and as such will be FREE to the athletes. The requirements to attend are as follows:
Standing Tumbling: Tuck
Running Tumbling: Layout or better (on hard mat)
Stunting:
Flyers: Bow&Arrow and Scorpion. Must be capable of performing double downs.
Bases: Must be strong enough to base a double down.
Males: Toss hands Lib
If you have any Seniors at Ultimate Cheer & Dance Allstars who meet these requirements, please reply with their names, stunt positions, standing and running tumbling skills and I will send you formal invitations to give to each of them as well as school information packets. We are relying solely on coach recommendations, so please reply by October 9th.
This practice is not a tryout. It is simply intended to show the top cheerleaders in the Southeast that we are building a highly competitive program at Mercer and hopefully get them interested in trying out in the Spring. Upon making the team, every athlete receives a scholarship for $1200 per year with opportunities for increase. If you have any questions about the school, the admissions process, or tuition and financial aid please do not hesitate to ask!
