| Teams, Coaches and Players,
As some of you know, over the last 24 hours we as the GCFFA have heard from and reached out to many of you regarding this years Hartford spring league. After listening to all of you and in evaluating my own involvement in the Hartford spring league, I have decided to offer a GCFFA Spring League, to be played in Waterbury and possibly New Britain (depending on the number of teams).
By no means am I asking any team to do whats not in the best interest for their team and I will have no hard feelings or wish anything but the best of luck to those teams who do not wish to participate in our NEW Spring league. If it becomes clear that there will not be the necessary teams and level of competition to warrant this new league than I hope you continue to participate in Hartford and not miss a season of flag.
The MOST important thing about the game of flag football or any sport is the quality of the GAME itself and that is and always will be the focus of the GCFFA. TOP LEVEL COMPETITION, QUALIFIED AND COMPETENT OFFICIATING, ADMINISTRATORS WHO HAVE IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE GAME AND A STAFF THAT HAS THE RESOURCES AND SUPPORT TO KEEP THIS FLAG MACHINE MOVING AS A NATIONAL PRESENCE! CT flag has taken great strides in the years I have been involved and I am very proud of what it has become and how far we can go with it. We have just scratched the surface and dont want to see us take any steps backwords.
This has come about rather quickly and we are still working out the final details however we will have a great league ready to go by April 11, 2010.
Although I have spoken to numerous teams and coaches privately, I will not disclose a list of teams who have already given me their commitment to play...........I ASSURE YOU THAT THE VERY BEST THAT CT HAS TO OFFER WILL BE MAKING THE SWITCH.
Coaches, if you wish to post your teams intentions feel free to do so or contact me and I will inform you of the participants.
For those who care, this will be a recognized MCFFU league following the national rulebook with the only exception being the game time will be lengthened to (4) 16 minute quarters. There will also be a rewards system put in place that will reward teams who participate in any GCFFA/MCFFU tournaments and leagues with discounts and prizes. Please check out all that we have to offer including our summer league, indoor league and national tournament events, as teams will be allowed and encouraged to participate in all events/leagues without fear of forfeit or penalty.
