buuba gump was also a character in the movie in which the shrimp company was named after. he was killed when forest was in vietnam and served under leiutenant dan, he died when something came up and bit forest in the ass, the bite being two ak rounds from a gook, he died beside the river in forests arms and later forest started the shrimp company on a promise he made to bubba and named it in his honer. which then leiutenant dan kept his promise to be forests first mate if he ever did buy a shrimp boat. lags and neil will appreciate this im sure, the most ironic thing in that whole movie was when leiutenant dan told bubba and forest when they arrived in vietnam was the most important thing they must do is keep their feet dry, in which shortly there after dan had his legs blown off, oh the irony. hope that clears things up for you nate.

I cant believe I am arguing this point to you guys but here it goes. Bubba was one guy, Forrest Gump was the other. Still with me fellas? OK,Take Bubba and Gump,put them together and you get the company name. Nowhere in the credits is there a character called Bubba Gump. That was my point.
