Can someone let me know it that's the right place for our game on the main page? I just looked at a satellite image of Tilden and picked out what looked like a baseball field, wasn't sure if it might be a softball field though.

Thanks

I'm assuming it's right. I didn't see any other fields on the aerial photos.

Nice link to small town fields.

And don't forget to follow the Millers on Facebook and Twitter all summer long.

You said you couldn't tell if it was a baseball or softball field based on the picture.....

Open 2 new windows with the following links pasted in them and compare for me.

I don't get if that was supposed to be an insult or not? Dirt infield baseball fields look like just slightly bigger softball fields from satellite photos, especially in rural areas where GoogleMaps doesnt't allow full zooming. I can't tell a difference of <100 ft in fence distance from a grainy satellite photo, especially with no frame of reference.

I think what I was saying is that your field looks like a softball field. Nothing to do with the fence distance, so I guess I'm not sure where that came into play.

I understood you were saying that Brill's field looks like a softball field, and I was agreeing, from satellite photos it does look just like a softball field. The only way to tell the difference would be if there was a higher resolution so you might be able to see differences in the area of the mound (which softball fields don't have), or if you could see the distances of the fence or infield, otherwise you can't tell. It also looks like a lot of other small town baseball fields, or a Japanese professional baseball field.

The thing I was confused about is if it was meant to be an insult or if it was just an observation.

You are either a softball player or somebody who rides the pine watching others play baseball...if you are indeed a softball player, enough said. If you are a pine rider, try softball, seriously

Even though it may look like a softball field to some, it's beautiful to me. And it plays closer to how a pro field would play than any other park in the Indy league in my opinion. Having grass may make a field look more like a pro park from a satellite photo, but having big lips on the grass, not having that good of turf, and not keeping the grass properly short makes the game play slower. The dirt at Brill when we water it right reacts a lot like a top notch grass infield, regardless of how it looks.

I've never played on a pro field, so I can't say for sure, but that argument is getting a bit ridiculous. Every field in our league could use work, with probably the exception of Cumberland, but "plays like a pro field," gimme a break. Our field plays like a pro field too, the bases are 90 feet apart, just like a pro field...

I played on a pro field once...it was the Dome and I would rather play at Brill or Haugen. BTW you guys make me laugh. I sit and try to keep the peace and you all ruffle so many feathers, like Kirby said play nice, LOL.

If people keep bringing up the ridiculous "your field doesn't look like a real baseball field" stuff I'll keep bringing up the same "ridiculous" arguments to defend it. Both teams play on the same field, so we can just be quiet about the fields. We get used to our dirt infield that plays fast, you get used to a deeper fence, it's the essence of home field advantage. The difference is that no one is going out of their way to attack your field despite its faults, which are numerous, just like ours. All of our fields need work, and all of us work very hard to improve them continually and maintain them. If we stop the stupid jokes we don't have to keep going in these circles.

I just made a joke about hiroshima and how they can't grow grass because we bombed she sh out of them...

You took that awful personally!

Our field needs that lip knocked down, a roller to go through the outfield, fertalizer in the of and a sprinkler system! There, our falts are out, you got us...

Oh, almost forgot, the bathroom needs a good cleaning and the pooper stall needs a lower door so when you sit down everyone can't see up under into your business!

Ill keep my fingers crossed for all of that, crossed, crossed, crossed, cross...... Ed.

Who needs a calender? If you simply go on this website and begin to see banter regarding fields and discussions heating up, you will know May 1st is near.

It is quite personal as WE do the work on OUR field. We work with what we have. You could have a nice field but nobody seems to want to improve it until the state tourney is held there, and even then it is a fight over which team should take care of it. The stand off may have lasted all night if a MILLER didnt get out and begin to get it taken care of during the storm. Is that personal enough for you?

We also work on our field, but it could be nicer, you're right. You're also right about the storm on state tournament weekend that you helped us with. If I remember right, you, hill, me, howenstine tarped that thing, so thank you.

Also, us and the hornets were trading off on the field, it was their turn but they were pissed at us and refused to do it because of the rain....

Not personal enough, I don't really ever get worked up over these things. I make hiroshima jokes.

As kirby would say, go baseball!!

To set the record straight on covering the field at the state tournament last year, it was the Knights turn to work the field and concessions on the last game Saturday night. A schedule was given to the Knights before the tournament showing when they were scheduled to work, and covered every possible scenario, depending if they won or lost. The way the games turned out they would only have had to work the Saturday morning game and the last game Saturday night. However, they were unable to do this small amount. That is why from now on, when the Hornets host a tournament they will do everything and are not working with the Knights anymore on any tournaments. By the way Derc, I have never seen you work on field at anytime, but you had the audacity to use foul language at Joe Juza that Saturday night. Joe personally has spent more time over the years working on the projects for the Haugen Ballpark than the entire Knights team ever has combined.

A note to the Brill players as well, keep your comments about the Haugen Ballpark in check, or you will be looking for a new field to play night games at in the future.

Paulie-
Dont take it too personally man. It is simple jabs back and forth that go on between us. It is really not that big of a deal, in my eyes. I understand that there are hard feelings between the two Haugen teams regarding the tourney last year. I apologize for offending you, that was definitely not my intent.

As far as letting us use the field, we do appreciate it and also appreciate the preparation that goes on before our games. Again, I apologize for offending you, I probably should have clarified more and/or not said anything at all. Obviously you know me and that sometimes I speak, or in this case type before I think about what I am saying.

Sincerely,

Frank

I was apparently misinformed about the schedule. My bad, but double check your facts on the foul language to Joe. I've talked to the guy once in my life and it was that night, the only foul language that went on was him telling me our team was BS. I shut my mouth and walked away. Someone from our team did cuss him out but it wasn't me. Lastly, you're right, I could put in more work on the field, but I've been there.
