Just curious how many teams practice on a consistent basis?

How many teams have actual playbooks for offense and/or defense?

Who's calling plays? Just the QB? Or a collection of players?

Do teams have depth charts?
What determines starters?? Seniority? ability? friends?

I'm just interested in that kinda stuff. No real reason for asking

I'm just interested in that kinda stuff

Vikings don't practice during the season, just a couple of meet and greets before the season. QB Dolch calls the offense, and takes some feedback from the other Offensive guys. If he's not there, then I call the plays with player suggestions as well.

I think Perry and Lloyd call the D, but not sure who decides who plays D, I think that's probably Perry too.

I wouldn't mind practicing during the season, but I really only have Sunday free with teaching and coaching all year round. I think most of us don't have much free time to practice honestly.

^^^ that's a great quote

CASHyou bring up a good point, you need players with football knowledge, not just a bunch of athletes. I know flag football is NOT real football, but a majority of the concepts apply. You can see it with some teams that continually lose contain with their pass rush, QBs that keep dropping straight back, and WRs that run routes that all end up in the same place as 1 or 2 other WRs. You can see it with DBs that setup with outside leverage, just to fall for an outside release move. I think the teams with the most football knowledge have a chance to have the most success in the league, regardless of how much they practice.

I think practice serves a purpose but with that being said in flag its more of a preseason thing. We did not have a single practice and came out sloppy and not on the same page against the Oilers. Each week since then we look a little better.
That being said you still hear teams using lack of practice as an excuse. If you really think the reason you lost in week four was because of lack of practice you need to just stop making excuses.

Thanks Cash!

Ask around though... I'm obviously not know in football for my size!!!

I pride myself on being the smartest player on the field, ask the Starrs, ask the Vikings, anyone that knows me really. I'm not trying to be cocky or anything, I just really take the mental part of football extremely serious.

It's nice to see other football minds out there too, you definitely seem like you got a knowledge for the game

Yea Cash Russ is def has one of the best football minds that I have come across. Playing with him in Enfield 2 years ago through this past season has made me a much better QB then I ever was. He is always looking to show me a play that is open for another WR, whenever he would give me a play or 2 that may work in a certain situation, it would never be a play where hes the goto guy, always somebody else. Its hard to find a good mind who is unselfish too. Real talk.

The Oilers practice every Wednesday. You're right practice don't make us perfect but it brings us together once a week before Sunday to go over our game plan depending on the opponent and just do some walk throughs. After practice we hang out and chill as a family.

i give u mad props Russell #12. But i do have a question for you. Do u think your a number 1 WR a go to guy? or a better Complementry WR to go with a top nocth WR? just your option just wondering?

Ill give my opinion. I think he can be either. 2 years ago in Enfield was his first year playing with me, nobody really knew about him and i think he scored around 12-14 tds which was top 3 or 4 in the league. Last year we picked up Ivan, and jeff was more of a move the chains type wr who still had 8-11 tds and some huge catches. My personal opinion is hes better with a number 1 wr like ivan, but who isnt. If he needed to be a number 1, i think he can do it still but its about winning and you need 2 or 3 good wrs to compete in any league. Id say hes in the top 5-7 wrs in this league though regardless in my opinion

I definitely think I'm more of a complimentary WR to go along with a number 1 guy. I'd put myself in the upper echelon of WRs based on my knowledge, experience, and abilityand I definitely have the confidence that any #1 WR has to get open and do serious damage against 1 on 1 coverage. I actaully feel my biggest strength is making QBs better as well as the WRs around, because I'm not a selfish player. I'll run my route, pull saftey's and LBs, and feel great about opening up routes for other guys.

Not sure if that really answers the ? Or not... Hopefully it does
