| lets be smart and know that clear path to the end zone is someone breaking away for a td with no one in front of them and celebrating with a dive... which would be clearly be dumb to call a penalty...with an absolute clear path to call back a td.... you were on the 3 yrd line... nothing but bodies around..... even if you would have scored anyway...the rule clearly states you can not advance the ball with diving point blank... facts are facts.... and why would an offense be allowed extra time beacuse they caught a penalty??? offenses would always do some type of illegal procedures at the end of games to keep the period from ending....that absolutely makes no sense... all offenses would have to do is line up offsides every play and the game would keep going.... heres the rule
Article G on Page 15
Diving
1. Diving to pull a flag is LEGAL 2. Diving to advance the ball gaining an advantage against the defender OR for extra yardage is ILLEGAL.

| Article X, Rule 3 (D) - Diving with clear field from the playing field to the end zone, the score will be awarded and the penalty will be enforced on the extra point attempt.
....acknowledge that this says clear field from the playing field to the end zone... again you were on the 3 yard line ... not a possibility,

| We understand it was stupid to dive in the first place... but regardless of that, diving is NOT a "loss of down" penalty, and therefore, if accepted, it should have been ruled a 5 yrd SPOT foul, replay 4th down. If time expired, then it should've been an UNTIMED down.
You can call it "crying" or whatever you want, but rules are rules... and seeing how DIVING with the ball is AGAINST the rules, then the follow up to the play should've been handed correctly, according to the rules. No where in the rules does it say, "Sorry, game over."
If the player dove, in bounds, and landed anywhere short of the endzone, then the clock would obviously run. But with the play ending in the End Zone, it makes it a little different, and it in fact made it a situation that was not covered in your rules. The play happens to be a rarity, but you should clearly do something about it for future situations.

| I didn't make the game today because of another engagement but there are no untimed downs after an offensive play. The game can't end on a DEFENSIVE penalty. Everyone in football knows that. An offensive penalty the game can end on and did there really is know argument.
Heard it was a great game. Wish I could a been there. All this is gonna do now is make the Vikings work harder.

| Thats the NFL rule... there would be an untimed down if the DEFENSE decided they wanted there to be one I dunno if we follow the same rule but....
If there is a foul by the offense, there shall be no extension of the period. If the foul occurs on the last play of the half, a score by the offense is not counted. However, the period may be extended for an untimed down, upon the request of the defense, if the offensive team’s foul is for: …
(4) a personal foul or unsportsmanlike conduct foul committed prior to an interception of a forward pass or the recovery of a backward pass or fumble or
(5) a foul by the kicking team prior to a player of the receiving team securing possession of the ball during a down in which there is a safety kick, a scrimmage kick, or a free kick.

| AS IVE TOLD THEM BEFORE THERE IS NO WAY THE OFFENSE SHOULD BE ALLOWED EXTRA TIME OR AN EXTRA DOWN BECAUSE THEY COMMITTED AN INFRACTION....IT WAS ALSO 4TH DOWN

| That Rule Applies ONLY to end of Periods, and Half-time, the NFL rule for the end of the game is different. You are pointing out an example from the Giants - Cowboys game when Flozell Adams committed a personal foul after a MISSED FG by the Cowboys to end the half.
the NFL is the ONLY football league that allows teams to DECLINE ANY and ALL penalties.

| Rule 3. Ball carriers are not allowed to: a.) Flag Guard. See: Flag Guarding b.) Leave feet by vertically jumping, hurdling a defender not on the ground or diving to avoid a de-flag. (Flag Guarding) c.) Dive to advance the ball in order to gain extra yards or avoid a defender. d.) Diving with clear field from the playing field to the end zone in order to taunt his opponent. The score will be awarded and the penalty will be enforced on the extra point attempt. e.) Lower head or bend over in which either action gives the ball carrier a decisive advantage over a defender attempting a de-flag. f.) Charge. g.) Get back up once he hits the ground.

| I think everyone on the Vikings is aware that you are NOT ALLOWED to DIVE. They aren't complaining about the DIVE, they are complaining about the fact that the DEFENSE Accepted the Penalty, and then the game ENDED. They were questioning whether or not that would have the opportunity to replay the down because the play resulted in a TD.
EVERYONE is aware that you are not allowed to DIVE or JUMP, and understand that you will be penalized (unless you are Ish from the Knights, who clearly jumped to avoid a flag against us)

| NCAA Football Rule Book from 2009-2010 (Same as NFL)
Extension of Periods ARTICLE 3. a. A period shall be extended for an untimed down (other than a try) if during a down in which time expires one or more of the following occurs:
1. A penalty is accepted for a live-ball foul(s)not treated as a dead-ball foul (Exception: Rule 10-2-5-a). The period is not extended if the statement of the penalty includes loss of down.
...This would conclude that there should have been an untimed down for the VIKINGS because a game cannot end on an accepted penalty by the defense. Considering the Vikings scored a touchdown on the illegal play, the Starrs had to accept the penalty to take the points off of the scoreboard, which would allow for one more untimed down.
I understand that DIVING is illegal, but the game should not of ended without the Vikings receiving one more untimed down - it is a rule that has been followed in football at the College and NFL level, and should've been followed by the flag football game on Sunday!
Antwon is wrong for saying that a game can end on an offensive penalty (look at the rule above)...it cannot end when the offense scores on their own penalty, because the defense would have to accept the penalty!

| THE DIVING RULE IS THAT THE PLAYER IS DOWN WHERE HE LEFT HIS FEET. ITS NOT A PENALTY. WHICH CAUSES A TURNOVER ON DOWNS IN THE VIKINGS CASE AND TIME EXPIRED AS WELL... THE VIKINGS WERE RIGHT IF THE PLAY WAS A PENALTY THEY WOULD BE AWARDED ANOTHER DOWN
