Instead of the usual WHO HAS THE BEST TEAM, FORUM RANKINGS, TEAM RANKINGS, SKYLINE TEAMS TO RECKON WITH, DONKYISM, PRETENDERS, CONFUSED PEEPS, RIB SHOTS, CHEAP SHOTS, LEAGUE RANKINGS, RANKING THE WORST TEAMS (all time low for the forum on that one by the way).....

.......EXCUSES, OLD GUYS, INJURED GUYS, RECORDS OF PRETEND TEAMS VERSUS SLUGOS, WHO HAS THE BEST BATTING ORDER....AND A PLETORA OF OTHER SLING SLANG JUNK....

Lets change it up a bit with who everyone thinks are the top players in Class A.

I will get it started right here.

1) Saldburger (too big, too cool and too good)
2) Lindstrom (mid 30's and still a stud)
3) Schildgen (smooth)
4) Johnson (top catcher in Class A at 40)
5) A. Odegaard (solid all the way around)
6) Duda(cant pitch him in and #2 in Park order)
7) Abelera (speed, defense, and on base)
8) Merril (another solid all around player)
9) Furrow (big, strong, pop and good OF)
10) Urbain (40 and looks/plays like he is 25!)

Yeah I know 7 of these 10 are either Tonka or Park guys but seriously how can any of these be argued too much as top ten.

Sure I could have gone to top 20 or so and perhaps only put down another 3-5 Park/Tonka guys for a total of about 10-12 out of the top 20....

All I can say is lets toss this around a bit and see what others have to say.

It will be better then the same old crap we fling back and fourth around here.

Dan Miller/Nick Bjerken, Stockmen's Irish. Miller is 1 or 2 catcher in metro with Johnson, can hit and run.

Bjerken is a gutty lefty and can hit with the best of them.

OT thanks for mixing stuff up a bit.

I have to agree with you that if we are looking at top individual players they can be found in bunches on both Tonka and Park.

JOhnson & Lindsdtrom - no doubt their uniforms will make it to the Class A Hall of Fame when it is built in 2025. Both have proved to be at a level above the rest for years.
Abby - dude can hit, field, run, always hustling.
Shally - proven winner, owns enough State rings to fill up two hands - enough said...
Urbain - freak of nature, check him for HGH (just kidding, but seriously the man gets it done) - also needs more fingers for all of his rings.
there are others that can make this list as well, but if we are talking about the best on the west side these are the guys I think of.

I know there are some really solid guys on the East side as well (Whinnery, Buzz, Mr Miller, etc...) I just dont get a chance to see those guys as much.

Yeah I don't know nearly enough about guys outside of the Riverview and Park National to formulate perhaps enough of a quality opinion.

That is why I wrapped three fingers around the ball and brought the thumb up for the change because I was curious as to what cats would say and the names that would be brought to the table.

thanks for this old timer, i'm really glad i got to read 10 names that i have no idea who they play for, what position they play, or what they do so well other than "Big", "cool", "good", "speed", "stud". i wish espn started analyzing players with the broadest of adjectives instead of statistics or credentials.

Seriously dude, Scrappy_Coco,

If you don't know who these players are and who they played for, you don't have a clue about Class A ball. Old Timer thanks for your list. Here's how I differ:

1) Abellera 3b-Millers..Complete package(speed, power, fielding)
2) Shallenberger ss-Millers..Can flat out rake, best number 3 hitter in sate
3) Lindstrom ss-Park..Maybe be older, but can play with the best, always dangerous at the plate
4) Johnson C-Park..Best number 4 hitter in state, leader on team
5) Schildgen ss-Pub..Complete player, leader on his team, dangerous left handed stick
6) Merril cf-Gators..Speed, quick bat, will run anything down in the field
7) A. Odegaard- ss-Gators..Solid player, good stick
8) Furrow of-Millers..Might be one of the top young hitters in state right now
9) Miller C-Stockmen's..Is 2nd best catcher in state
10) Hanahan ss-Air Freight..Sure handed, can hit with the best of them

I'm sure there are a lot of good players out there not mentioned on this list. I've based this list on the past several years, and who I've seen played.

Just listen to your teammates talk and watch the games, you'll know who they are right away. I've been in the league a VERY short time but i can point out all of these players. If you know baseball at all you know the top players as soon as they set foot on the field.

OT, i've seen most these guys in action multiple times and this list is very strong. Good job.

wow scraps, you sound like a tough guy, not the 16 year old kid i initially imagined based on your earlier comments. keep in mind, you will most likely have to beat that "garbage" from the west side to win a State Tournament....

Tough guy sounds about right. With no experience to back it up. Mpls isn't garbage no matter how you look at it. What's your angle on this? Cause your squad beat up on a team thats weak this year or something in the quarter of a season you've been around these leagues? Come back and talk big when you have any clue what you talking about.

Just knew I would expose a true donkey with my top player ranking stuff and the winner is...SCRAPPYPOOPYDIAPERDOO!

Hey kid you are a riot! Care to share who your team is as you have already made yourself to look the fool you might as well include all your team mates.

You are probably right....you represent a "new generation" of baseball idiots who think they know something about the game and can't play it either.

What colleges do you and some of your "fellas" play at any way? Even college kids who are atlest fairly well coached and come from decent programs know at least a thing or two which is obviously not the case with you.

I digress....."garbage Mpls. leagues." Does that suggest you and your fellas are in the skyline or St. Paul? Perhaps you have this web site confused with the Sunday aluminum bat league.

Speaking of bats do you and your fellas all share one composite or do you buy your lumber at Sport Mart?

Seriously buddy get a clue and I was going to say show some respect but none of us would care on that either way. However you could at least show some twinge of knowledge when it comes to the game.

Hey Fellas look out for the "New Generation" they are going to beat us all down.

Now all we need to know is what brilliant little team of misfits scrappy plays for and we can all join in on a new forum board discussion.

Sincerely 41 years old and I truly know now that I have forgotten more about baseball last week then you will EVER know SCARFYPOOPOO.

Let er buck little man.......

This just makes the case of having an MSP vs STP All-star game, or an all-star team from each of the 4 leagues play in a little tourney!

If coco makes his league's all-star team, he will be introduced to all the players he considers to be playing "garbage" baseball.

I know we go over this every year and for some reason it "cant" happen. But I'm sure Veterans or Dunning would be happy to host it if the leagues could figure something out.

no problem.

my name is jake. i play for stillwater. i'm currently hitting about .100 with lots of strikeouts.

i am actually the old guy of my team at 23 years of age. i am the only player out of college. i had a terrible college career with probably a .250 average and was no better than a #4 starter on the mound. my teammates include players from concordia st. paul, st. scholastica, st. marys, u of m, and winona state.

i believe each person has their own bat. not sure where they bought theirs but i got my bat from a family member.

i'd have to say i do have a lot of knowledge of the game.

is there anything else you would like to know?

and no matter what, i'll continue to defend the skyline/st. paul just because it makes this forum that much more fun. if everyone agreed with everyone, there would be no point to this.

if park wins state this year, i'll still come up with a reason as to why the other teams didn't beat them. and i am 100% certain that you would do the exact same thing if a skyline team (besides stockmens) won state. every person on this forum does this to waste time at work and get some laughs out of the ridiculous responses people give.

and boom goes the dynamite.

No doubt that Park has been around a LOOOONG time. The question is when the bat speed and defense will wain. At this point it will be sooner than later, but perhaps Park will have one last shot this year. In any case. Good luck to all teams.

Too bad "boom goes the dynamite" is part of a softball cheer.(known from my sister's games) Maybe this sheds some light on his past and why he's lost in our sport.

And hey OT, not all of this "new generation" are clueless. Just most of them it seems.....

all great players, have only been around a couple years to witness them but agree with the lists, but what? no love for the any of the ramblers? ha, probably cuz the average age of the team is about half of what it is on park and tonka

"Boom goes the dynamite" is from an awful Ball State highlight reel. Youtube it. Well worth 5 minutes of your day...

"He passes it to the man, aaaaand Boom goes the dynamite"

Regardless of what Scrappy knows, or how poorly he's hitting, he still plays with the best character in the league. Put Cotton Eyed Joe on your stadiums speakers when you play stillwater, and their right fielder will put on quite a show. Again, if you have 5 minutes, youtube Winona State Cotton Eyed Joe.

Those are pretty good lists. Most of those hitters are intimidating to throw against. Couple other tough/ intimidating hitters

Mike Davis - Hopkins
DH from Hopkins, big boy, heavy bat speed
Mason Reinhart - Cobras
Aaron Larson - Angels

Why no respect to the pitchers? Out of 4 leagues, only one (Whinnery) even got mentioned. He's the toughest by far, but there are others who carry their team.

Olson - Bloomington (minus Tonka outting)
Mason - Tonka
Edstrom - Park

You said you are Jake from stillwater? Is it possible that you are the same Jake that shut down St. Louis Park in State to eliminate them?...I thought you said you were no better than a #4 starter?

The best pitchers are my next topic......
