010 9v9 Ineligible Pro Team Breakdown
« Thread Started Today at 11:34am »

THIS IS THE BREAK DOWN AND NOTICE WE ARE NOT READY FOR THE PRO DIVISION

6 - Packers (MD) Defending World Champions - Lethal offensive attack that can put up points against anyone, but must get tougher on defense in later rounds. Big game team that often struggles on the circuit, however with some additional key pick-ups on the defense they should be a final 4 lock in Williamsburg.

3 - Bluedoggs (PA) - A very solid TEAM with a resemblance to the Cannoneers (NY) team in their earlier days, not flashy, but consistent. They posses all the tools to make a run at a title including a big time QB quite possibly the best in 9man and can make the plays necessary to beat anyone. Final 4 is a strong possibility

4 – Scorpions (MD) - Veteran squad looking to get over the 9-man hump. Not consistent enough on both sides of the ball to win a big one, but is very capable of an upset. Look for close games on Saturday and an early 1st round exit on Sunday.

5 - Sudden Impact/Enforcers (NY) - A scrappy and talented LI team that will be missing their spark-plug and leader on Saturday (Mike Catalano), which could cost them in a close game and a good position on Sunday. If they have solid numbers they are a tough out for anyone. Need to improve on the OL, overall speed and get big plays from the QB spot to make a difference. Final 8 or early first round exit.

7. Omni (NY) - Always a championship contender with a strong defense and a low-risk offense. Inside info says they may be without some key players (Rah, Dewayne and Thomas) that could hurt them in the early rounds on Sunday. They should still have enough to make a Final 8 and quite possibly the Final 4. Defense will get them close, but QB play has to take them over the hump. Possible Final 4.

9. Gladiators (NY) – The more they play, the more the chemistry begins to show. Defense is improved but with the injury to QB Green, the Gladiators may turn to top seeded M.E. QB Henry Ford to help them maximize their point potential and get them over closer to the .500 mark. They will make the Pro cut, but depending on the QB position, it could be a 1st round exit or a Final 4 showing.

10. Real Deal (NJ) - The time is now for this team to get back to a championship game and from all indications, they will be one of the more complete teams in the tournament. All the pieces are in place. Defense has to become more aggressive and more touches for Shaun “Chicken” Rodgers. If Nicky Lomonacco show balance with his scramble and passing they could win it all. Final 4 finisher.

11. Da Show (NC) - High energy team looked great at home last month winning the Charlotte NIT, but traveling is a different beast and so is the annual VA Championships. The 2009-10 Pro Open World Champions are indeed a legit Pro team and if they bring a full squad should be a Final 8 or even better.

14. Paid in Full (NY) - Newer team with a lot of talent but usually very little depth. Will be very competitive and points gained in NC may give them a schedule light enough to make the Pro cut for Sunday. The word on the street is that they will have more depth and could actually be sleeper that has a legit chance at going far. Final 8 finish but could surprise with bolstered roster.

16. Young Gunz (CT) - Top 5 defensive team lead by DE Michael “Chief” Peterson and one of the best special team units. The inability of the offense to score late in tournaments versus stronger competition has been the problem. QB play will determine if they are a Final 8 team or higher.

17. Metro Dawgs (VA) – Currently sitting on the outside of the Pro 16, the Dawgs will need a strong showing to crack the 16 and regain their swagger. Revamped with a youth movement they have the tools to make a push into the late rounds on Sunday, but the DL is not what it used to be and an injured QB is a huge liability in this one. DL and QB play will determine if they are a Final 8 team.

19. Chargers (CT) – After starting the circuit strong in 2009, the Chargers have been going backwards ever since. Inconsistency at the QB position, below average defensive play and limited “big play” makers on offense will have this team on the borderline of the Pro and Pro Open after Saturday’s play.

22. Ryde Out (VA) – Another borderline team that shows flashes of competing at the next level. However, this is a Pro Open team that will more than likely miss the Pro cut, but should be in the running for the Pro Open Final 4.

26. Main Event (NC) – Got the call to the Pro 16 in the Miami World Championships and finished poorly. They are looking rebound after a solid showing in the Charlotte NIT. A good team that has a talented group of skill players littered with NFL and D-1 credentials, need to improve line play (on both sides of the ball) and get more physical in the trenches. Pro on Sunday is a reach.

33. DMV Eagles (MD) - A clear cut Open team that is not afraid of competition. They have pretty good team speed but lack continuity and are in need of steady QB play, big game playmakers and Pro-caliber offensive and defensive line play. Middle of the Pro/Open that could make a run at the Pro Open Final 4.

UNRANKED TEAMS:

Lanies (NY) - A mixture of some of the younger Cannoneer players who are looking to be a mainstay on the 9v9 circuit. Though this is not the Cannoneers, they word is they are bringing a very competitive team to VA and will be a force that can bump a top-tier team from the Pro cut and actually make a push for the Final 8.

Beltway Bruins (MD) – Has the mindset of Pro team, but lack consistency to compete at the Pro level. The Bruins are a talented and deep bunch that will have a short drive to Williamsburg and a local league to build depth with and they could be the top “Sleeper” team in VA, which would quiet the critics. A chance to make the Pro cut, but a Pro Open Final 4 team is expected.

Steelers (CT) - Good borderline team that has never put together a complete weekend on the road, but with one of the game’s biggest offensive weapons in Jamie “Rocket” Bryant who can single-handedly win a game or two in tournament play, they are an upset special that can take down anyone unexpectedly. Pro level team, but not strong enough on both sides of the ball to make a push at the Pro title. Should they not make the Pro cut, they will be the team to beat in the Pro Open.

Blaze (MD) - Not sure what to expect, they have the speed all around. Issue could be that many key players are either competing in Arena football or unable to compete as the season comes to an end. With those players, Blaze can be a Pro team that could make the Final 4. Without them, they will finish at the bottom of the Pro or in top 4 of the Pro Open.

Hartford High Rollers (CT) – They will have a solid QB and a few individuals from the up and coming Gators (CT), Oilers (CT) and a couple of other teams but this team was put together in a couple of weeks and chemistry will be a major issue. Not ready for the Pro, but could be a sleeper in the Pro Open. Finish unknown.

Fast Eddies Falcons (VA) – Pro Open team from the start, that utilizes quickness and trick plays to compete. Their style is not consistent enough to compete on the Pro circuit. However, if they are on their game, they could give Pro Open teams fits and finish high.

MD Giants (MD) – A spin-off from Blaze the MD Giants will making their first circuit appearance. Look for them to miss the Pro cut and be in the running for the Pro Open Final 4.

MD Bengals (MD) – Went 0-3 and finished last in the Pro Division in the 2009 VA Championships, look to rebound and gain Pro status. More big play players on both sides are needed to become a legitimate Pro team. Look for them to contend for the Pro/Open title.

Mckenzie Tigers (MD) – A tough Saturday bracket lead to an early exit for the Tigers in 09 losing big to Ryde Out (VA) and the eventual champions Lynch Mob (DC). The lack of big plays on both sides of the ball could have them at the bottom of the Open division again should there be no upgrade in talent from the previous year.

Light’em Up (VA), 703 Broncos (VA) and the Baltimore Vipors, MD – Young teams, making their first appearance on the circuit. Neither is expected to make the Pro cut and their expected finish in the Pro Open is unknown.
