| Well the 2010 season has begun .... break out the bands and fireworks plzz!
As I review last nights results ...I just have to say the following:
Troy's beat down of a normally tough Mac Red Romeo Bulldog team. Is Troy that good or is Romeo or for that matter the Mac red that down this year?
Stoney Creek's loss to Port Huron North. I think most of us expected a Cougar win .... certainly a closer game.
Southfield's man handling of Northwestern. While I expected a Blue Jay victory ....an opening day 40+ point offensive show is pretty dog gone impressive.
Farmington had a nice opening day victory against the WB Lakers. Sets up a critical game next week against Adams.
Pontiac continues their winning ways and introduces themselves to the OAA Red with a victory. Way to be Phoenix.
Berkley is on track for the Blue title chase with their win against Ferndale.
Seaholm with their move to the Blue shows they will be battling for the Blue title this year.
Adams makes a statement by beating Clarkston from the Red. The Highlanders may be a better and more balanced team (offense n Defense) than last year!
Lake Orion's trouncing of Oxford was rude awakening for the Wild Cats. It is a step up from the Flint Metro into the OAA and certainly was tough playing one of the better teams in the in the state for your first game. Things may not get better as the OAA white is a tough and very competitive division this year ...top to bottom the best division in the OAA.
Good for Rochester High! The Falcons explode out of the gates with a big victory. Nice to have a seasoned offense that can put up some points!
Well thats it for me ....LETS HERE YOUR COMMENTS!?!?

| Andover hasn't been competitive in a long time. They have decent coaching but not enough players on there team. Pontiacs when impressive. They have a good secondary. Really wanna see how the season turns in the next two weeks when they face lake orion.

| How about Clarkston @ Athens as an intriguing matchup in 2 weeks? Could be a huge game w/ regards to playoff implications for both teams...never thought I'd be saying THAT!

| i was at the Troy/Romeo game. I felt the score didnt indicate how closely played the game was in general. Romeo was up 7-3 at halftime. Both defenses seemed to control the first half.
To narrow down your question from is Troy that good, or is Romeo not that good. To me it came down to is Troy's defense this good, or is Romeo's offense not that good. Seemed Troy had guys flying to the ball all night. A lot of gang tackling.
Troy broke a couple long plays in the 2nd half, including a 96 yard TD run. I think they made a couple halftime adjustment with that spread option off what they seen in the first half, and turned those into big plays.
Once momentum got on Troy's side with the big plays, they were able to hold on for a big win.
McDonald (#1?) is very fast. Appears the Colts will be very competitive this season.

| what do you guys think was expected this week? upsets and what not?
LO over Oxford Rochester over LCN Adams over clarkston King over Brother rice Port Huron over Stoney Troy over romeo Athens over MOtt
were these all expected wins? or some upsets as well?
Adams vs Clarkston I expected a clarkston win
LO vs Oxford Huge turnout for the game, i thought it would was gonna be a little closer but anticipated LO to roll
Rice vs King I dont know about you guys but i was definitely expecting to see a Rice win, heard rice QB did not produce at all, only threw somethin like 5 times =/
Port Huron vs Stoney After stoney had some big wins last year late in the season i thought maybe it would carry over but apparently not
Troy vs Romeo From what i have heard about Romeo, i thought for sure they would have given troy a little more run for their money, or is troy that good this year?
Rochester vs LCN I thought this game would be a toss up, glad to see rochester get off to a good start finally but how will it carry over into the Lake Orion game?
Athens vs Mott How does athens look this year? anyone see this game i dont really have an opinion on this one cuz i dont follow either team

| The only time Brother Rice should be mentioned in this forum is when they lose cuz I am sick and tired of their dominance. Someone from the OAA needs to take them down this postseason. (If they're even there) I was not at all surprised by L.O. big over Oxford. I think this week vs Lathrup is a good indicator of how competitive they are going to be in the White.

| just a question fellas, hopefully someone could help me out with this. but i just can't understand how when Troy utterly dominated Romeo people asked if troy is really that good or is it the MAC Red? in my opinion if a team dominates another team by 24 points it is not that the losing team is down its because one team cam more prepared than the other. and the winning team is in fact much better than people may have expected. Troy athens won by 12 against a much weaker MAC Red team and athens is thought of as on of the "Big Three." I just dont understand how a team can win by 24 and it's because the losing team (who was favored by 10) wasnt good...

| Quite frankly, Troy DID NOT dominate that game. It was a much closer contested game than the score shows.
Troy is good. Its a matter of how good. Romeo is not bad. They just weren't as good as Troy.

| Oh, and you may see Warren Mott beat Romeo this year. Not sure they were the "weaker" of the two teams as you put it.
You might also see Athens beat Troy later in the year.
Hard to tell week 1. Well see what happens.

| W Bloomfield has a good team don't be surprised if they beat Clarkston. Harrison did not look good against Novi if they play like that Southfield kills them. Farmington has so many weapons will be tough on Adams.

| how can you say troy did not dominate the game? they scored on all 4 drives of the second half and romeo had a total of 50 yards in the second half. troy 350+ yards, romeo: <150

| I say they didnt dominate because I sat there and watched it. They didnt. i will say their defense dominated. Dont get me wrong Troy played well, and deserved to win. I will say they dominated the 2nd half, but not the game.

| I can appreciate this argument (an interesting argument)! Obviously 2 people can witness something and have 2 different ways to describe the event. This happens all the time when say police take reports from eye witnesses at a scene where some event occurred.
I think to some extent you are both correct about the game against the bulldogs. No one can take away the fact that this was a great victory ... shocking and unexpected. A micro analysis reveals that the defense spear headed the lopsided...ness of this game and set up the offense to take advantage. This may be exposed when Troy plays a teams that have balance (offense n defense). Games against Lake Orion, Clarkston ...maybe Pontiac and Athens will illustrate this point. The Colts will have a big test mid season test when they face Clarkston, West Bloomfield, and Lake Orion. We will certainly know a lot more about the Colts after those games.
Another point to be made is the state of the MAC Red conference this year. They had a very poor performances by normally strong teams like Romeo, Chip Valley, and Sterling Heights Stev. all were blown out in their 1st game. This points to a down year for the MAC Red.
Anyway I just thought I would add my 2 cents for sake of discussion! Sorry for rambling!???!!? LOL

| Great points boon. Just want to point out that i would agree with the complete team dominance of Troy in the 2nd half. Although in the 1st half it was defensive dominance around the board Romeo and Troy.
With that said, will troy be tested this week? No. Will they have something to prove? Yes. If they beat up on Royal Oak then it seems (to me) that maybe last week wasn't a fluke. However other may contest that since Royal Oak poses not much of a threat Troy will still need to prove something in the later season. I would agree with that point also due to the following schedule: Rochester, Clarkston, West Bloomfield, Lake Orion, Pontiac, Crossover, Athens. That schedule to me seems to be a mountain for Troy to climb.
