Teams have less players this year. Really noticeable to me. Adams look like they had at least 10 less players on varsity than previous years.

This obviously will effect team depth and more players will play both ways.

Anybody else notice this for the teams you watch?

Yeah I have noticed that as well. I believe the tough economic times and pay-for-play have alot to do with this. Probably won't affect the top line player, but some parents just can't afford to pay for players to stand on the sidelines all year long.

It's a shame too, these young men should not have to pay to play. So much positive growth comes from playing sports. It builds a persons confidence, teaches them about friendships and how to work and build goals. Everything we want for our kids. Builds school spirit.

It is tough with the pay to play in effect. Waterford Mott district actually came up with funding so that NONE of their athletes have to pay. From what I understand, they are the only public school in the state doing so. Good for Mott!

I agree you guys on pay for play! It is a shame that kids are having to pay to participate in sports. Ive heard as high as $300.00 at some schools to pay for play. That has to affect participation levels!

Most of us grew up in an era where we DID NOT have to pay! For as much as the state has hyped the importance of education over the years ... it seems they always get cuts due to lack of funds!

What happen to the lottery money the state said would be applied to schools?

Mott has done a great job in thinking "outside the box" and finding a way to raise funding for sports! As has been mentioned above sports has had a wonderful impact on a lot of kids. Cmon State Lottery Ante Up and fund school sports state wide!

Right on Boon... casino taxes should be earmarked for education.
