| It has been mentioned on here in the context of the Red playing the White with the winner of the 1st Place teams being the CHAMPION.
But what if we (OAA) could come up with a playoff system that was fair and included teams from the red, white, a blue divisions.
1st place teams from each conference + a wild card team (based on seeding/power ranking) to play each other in a OAA Championship Playoff.
Last 2 games of the schedule of the season would left open for the play off! All other teams in the conferences would play x over games based on seeding /PR or schedule a non conference filler game.
With the X over games , this year, being such a hit I thought I would throw this out there!
Now What do u think!?!?!?

| Nice concept, but it will never happen. AD's and Coaches would not welcome playing another top ranked team that late in the season. This format could eliminate a team that could be play off eligible. How about requiring all the OAA divisions to cross over once or twice during the regular season? That might provide a true picture of what team should be considered the best in the OAA!

| I agree nice concept. But I would not want to see the week 9 rivalry games go away. Southfield/Lathrup, Troy/Athens, Seaholm/Groves, Clarkston/LakeOrion, Lahser/Andover,Farmington/Harrison(moved to week 9 this year) week 9 should be alot of fun, just the way it is!

| I agree. The new format will give a good rating on who is the best in the OAA. I will tell you this the last 3 games for most of the top teams will get them ready for the playoffs.

| Good points all ..... makes for some discussion.
Yep I would guess for most teams it is all about making the playoffs ...where you get recognized as district, regional, and state champions. You have to make the playoffs for any of that to happen. So why have a championship game that might jeopardize making it to the playoffs and seeding in the brackets.
As to the end o season rivalries ... that is kinda cool say for city champions bragging rights but certainly not as critical as making the playoffs.
I was looking for a way that the best from the blue could get a shot at the title as well! So with that I ask ....Do u think Seaholm, Hazel Park, and Berkly could play competitive against the best from the red and white divisions (this year)? Pontiac jumped from the blue to the red and is competitive! anyway your thoughts Plzzz???

| A few ways we could go with it... great concept Boon.
If it started today, using a full/normal 9 week schedule, OAA Standings to pick the qualifiers (in week 7) and OAA Power Ratings (week 7) to seed them...
1. Lake Orion 163.000 2. Farmington 145.000 3. Hazel Park 142.667 4. Farmington Harrison 142.000 5. Birmingham Seaholm 134.000 6. Clarkston 100.667
Week 7 - Clarkston at Hazel Park Birmingham Seaholm at Farmington Harrison (Lake Orion and Farmington play normal schedule. Unless a playoff qualifier, OAA Blue teams follow normal schedule, OAA Red/White would crossover or option to play team with no week 7 opponent because of tourney)
Week 8 - Clarkston/Hazel Park winner at Farmington Birmingham Seaholm/Farmington Harrison winner at Lake Orion (other OAA teams follow normal schedule or option to play team with no week 8 opponent because of tourney).
Week 9 - WINNERS PLAY @ PONTIAC WISNER (other OAA teams follow normal schedule or option to play team with no week 9 opponent).

| Here's another one.
If it started today, using a full/normal 9 week schedule, OAA Standings to pick the qualifiers (in week 8) and OAA Power Ratings (week 8) to seed them...
Red - Lake Orion 163.000 Blue - Hazel Park 142.667 White - Farmington Harrison 142.000
Week 8 - Farmington Harrison at Hazel Park (seed 3 at seed 2). (Lake Orion/seed 1 plays a normal week 8 schedule. OAA Red/White/Blue teams follow the normal schedule. Teams (2) with no opponent will crossover).
Week 9 - WINNER plays Lake Orion/highest seed @ Pontiac Wisner (All other OAA teams follow normal schedule. Teams (2) with no opponent will crossover).

| Scouts ...I like your 2nd playoff option ....because of the simplicity and only 2 wks involved! It would be fun if the OAA would try this for a year ...and charge a little more for the championship playoff games (say 7 to 10 bucks) and use the extra money to where needed thu out the OAA. Football.. year in and year out is good enough tho warrant a play off and would draw crowds!

| Alright since we are thinking hypothetically, how about this............ OAA conference adds 3 teams, Lapeers, Waterfords, Holly, whatever. You have 4 divisions of 7 teams. Everyone plays everyone else in their division once (6 games) and would have one open date to schedule rivals or exciting new matchups....week 8 and 9 would be OAA playoffs. Beginning in week 8 you would have 4 team mini tournaments with the 1st place teams in each division playing each other, 2nd place teams playing each other and so on. Week 8 semis, week 9 finals. You would then have a true OAA champion !!!

| Country Day doesn't want in. They'd be the smallest OAA school and they sure don't want any part of Lake Orion, Clarkston, Troy, Harrison, Adams, etc.
Most of the others on the above list would fit right in to the league.
