Thanx guys!!!

Well, here's the happy recap of the championship series.

Game one: The Rockies had their big man C.C. Sabathia squaring off against the Senatos Joel Pineiro. Not exactly the match-up the Sen's would have liked. But the top half of the first would kind of be a precurser to the way the series would go for the Rockies. The Sen's Denard Span led the game off with a deep drive into the corner for a triple. Youkilis followed with yet another walk and then Jayson Werth drilled a shot into left for and rbi single, but Youk got gunned out at the plate trying to score on a Carlos Beltran error. The Rockies responded with 4 runs over the next three innings taking a 4-1 lead. Ibanez lead off with a double in the 4th and was driven in by Martin Prado to bring the Sens within 2. Then in the top 8th all hell broke loose for the Rockies defense. A lead-off error by Jeter was followed by a two run blast by Raul Ibanez to tie things up before two more 8th innings errors and a single scored the two go ahead runs with two outs. Ryan Franklin came in and shut down the Rockies and close out game one Sen's 7- 4.

Game two: Justin Verlander vs Jair Jurrjens in what would turn out to be a 13 inning pitchers duel. The Rockies jumped out to an early 1st inning lead with an Votto rbi single to start things off. It was quiet until the top 4th when the Greek God of walks (Youkilis) drew the 2nd of three base on balls on the day. Then with two outs and Youk still on first, Ibanez once again launched a blast over the centerfield wall for two runs and the lead. Alex Rodriguez then leading off the botton 6th for the Rockies crushed a Verlander 99 mph heater for a solo blast tying things up. It wasn't until the top of the 13th inning that either team looked like they were awake. With one out and the Rockies Mike Gonzales on the mound Matt Holliday wrapped a breaking ball around the leftfield pole to give the Sen's the lead. Trevor Miller on in relief with two outs struck out Jason Bartlett to end game 2, Sen's 3-2.

Game three: What a match up of awesome pitching machines. King Felix vs Cliff Lee. Cliff Lee was touched up in the 3rd innings by Rod Barajas's single with one out before Denard Span drilled anouther triple into the corner making the score 1-0. Lind tagged Lee for the second of his three lead-off doubles on the day. This time scoring on a Aki Iwamura rbi single making it 2-0 Sen's. In the 6th Lind hit his third lead-off double and was knocked in with two outs by Clint Barmes to give the Sen's a 3-0 lead. King Felix was masterful going into the ninth inning ahead 3-0. But Alex Rodriguez reminded him this was the World Series and sent a 100 mph fastball into the wall for a lead-off double. Lance Berkman walked and that ended the night for the King. With one out Ian Kinsler blasted a Ryan Franklin pitch over the centerfield fence tying things up. Into the tenth inning Ryan Franklin still on the hill for the Sen's shut down the Rockies in the top 10th. With one out in the bottom of the 10th Werth struck out, Raul Ibanez just missed winning it with a blast high off the rightfield fence for a double. Then, up came Adam Lind with Ibanez on second and one out. With his 4th hit of the day Lind sent a line shot off the rightcenter field wall scoring Ibanez from second to give the Sen's a 4-3 victory and a healthy 3 games to 0 series lead.

Game four: With the Rockies in a must game situation they opted for Wandy Rodriguez to take the mound against Brad Bergeson. It didn't take long for the Rockies to light up Bergeson either. After a Votto lead-off single A-Rod destroyed a Bergeson pitch for a two run bomb putting the Rockies up two zip. The Sen's bats fell silent for three innings and that brought up the Rockies in the 4th. Sandoval lead of with a walk, Votto goes down looking and A-Rod digs in again with one on and one out. You guessed it another A-Rod two run blast puts the Rockies up 4-0. Looking like this game might be getting ugly the Sen's search for baserunners. Kevin Youkilis takes a walk and Jayson Werth follows him with one of his own. With runners on 1st and 2nd Adam LaRoche drops an rbi single into right center putting Werth on third with one out. Raul Ibanez the sacrifices Werth in before an inning ending double play by Adam Lind. Rockies ahead 4-2 after 4 innings. Now to the botton 5th Rockies still up 4-2 and with one out Clint Barmes singles, Denard Span walks. With two outs and runners on 1st and 2nd Kevin Youkilis drives a shot into the left center gap bringing home Barmes and Span tying things up. Kiko Calero in on relief for the Sen's in the 6th keeps the Rockies lineup quiet once again. Then the dreaded 6th inning for Rockies. With two outs and the score still tied Yunel Escobar draws a walk from Wandy Rodriguez. Clint Barmes digs in against reliever Dave Aardsma and hits a high fly ball off the top of the wall in center field driving in Escobar and giving the Sen's a 5-4 6th inning lead. Calero pitched one more shutout inning before giving way to Claudio Vargas, who then came in and made it interesting by walking A-Rod with one out in the 8th then an infield hit by Lance Berkman made it 1st and 2nd. Bourn came in to pinch hit and wiffed and Ellbury popped out to end the 8th. With a depleted bullpen, Vargas took the ball for the ninth with a 5-4 lead and the Rockies searching for baserunners. He got Kinsler and Jeter to ground out before Ichiro smacked a single into leftfield. The series on the line for the Rockies and a sweep looming, Sandoval stepped to the plate. With the fans in Senator Stadium on their feet and cheering wildly, watched their first championship season in team history be completed when the Rockies catcher grounded harmlessly to Clint Barmes at 2nd and Adam LaRoche squeeze the throw for the games final out. Senators 5-4

Supposedly , the Rockies locker room remained closed to reporters after the bitter loss. How they come to grips with a four game sweep against a team they beat eight straight just a few weeks ago remains to be seen. One GM ventured that GM/Manager Bill Agnew had riden his team too hard during the regular season. Another GM said that a long gruelling season which started in February had taken its toll on the ageing Rockies. We'll see.
