For every punt, I roll one die.
1-3: Returnable (lineup as described below, check for block, conduct hangtime, then return).
4-6: Fair catch. Only roll for yardage and the play is over.
So, either after the 2 seconds is run off for the block, or after the punt is determined to be a fair catch, I roll one die again:
1-3: Add yards to a 40-yard punt.
4-6: Subtract yards from a 40-yard punt.
Then, roll 2 dice and total them, whatever that is, add or subtract as prescribed above.
So, if your dice rolls come out 4, 4, 9, you get the a fair catch of a 31-yard punt (9 yards subtracted from a base 40-yard kick).
