| Weeeeeelllll now that there's a crowd I have to toss this into the ring.....since the skyline pitching has been beefed so much this year I can only assume Skyline Stud must be a pitcher. If not then I'm just confused.
So ya I'd love to take out the wiggle bat and hit a few bombs off ya if that'll do the trick.
When skyline wins the state tournament I'll post an apology. Until then stop typing.
That is all.
Thank you,
Limplifter

| Besides the Fog that rolls in and engulfs the outfield...
my favorite WBT field moment was a throw from the outfield on a sac fly...the catcher swiped at and the ball got by him and to the backstop.
The umpire didnt see the ball and called the runner out on a phantom tag...which sent the baserunning team into a rage...all the while the ball lay against the backstop.
the call was overturned...

| you're lucky that game even got played. we spent almost 2 hrs. making it playable. the field is built on a bog so the grass grows at an incredible rate. quit your whining the game got played and it's over with.

| So everyone should be thankful that field was just in poor shape rather than in complete shambles? I understand that it takes time to get a field into good shape but if the grass is too long, the lines aren't done (for a league game - Wow), et cetera I would be complaining too.

| Why does everyone feel the need to verbally attack and whine about 2 things, the Skyline League and Minnetonka? I don't believe I see too many people from the Skyline saying they are going to win the state tournament. They talk trash on this forum, but never once have they claimed to be cream of the crop. Same goes for Minnetonka, they are never on here bragging or talking trash. I guess they are like the Yankees, everyone hates them cause they know how to win.
Did everyone forget, this is amateur baseball?? The only thing below this is slow pitch softball. There are only a handful of kids that are playing for something, that is to play between college seasons. The rest of us are all old and have real jobs. It is pathetic to see grown men banter about who has a better team. Come September, I won't remember who even won the state tournament.
Way to go guys! Just remember, its amateur baseball, not the big show!!

| Hambino is my new favorite poster....until Old Timer comes back to post. I realize that he is supposedly new and improved under the "spitsack" handle, but sometimes you can ruin a good thing when you try to hard to do it again...see Caddyshack 2 or Major League 2, 3, for reference.

| Hambino is spot on with his comments.
As for field conditions, not every team is blessed with the same community support when it comes to upkeep and maintenance of their fields. This is especially evident when you get into some of the rural areas that play in Class B and C.
After a day of heavy rain, yes, you should be glad that games were played at all. It sounds as if the home team in this situation spent time before the game doing what they could to make it playable. What are your expectations here, Skyline Stud? If the town doesn't send someone out to mow the grass or chalk the lines that day because there is standing water, what are you expecting of the players? Hop on a riding mower and mow the soaked field just prior to the game?
At this time of year, with the end of the regular season fast approaching, teams are often forced to cut corners to avoid rainouts and postponements. It sounds like this game would have been rained out had it been scheduled earlier in the summer. So yes, be glad you got the game in and didn't have to go through the hassle of doing a last-minute reschedule in the next or so.

| Dear Forum, good morning and happy friday. I realize my comments in earlier posts were very inmature, and I have been doing a lot of thinking...It doesn't matter if we were playing on a concrete field, the game was played and thats all that counts. As far as my comments to limplifter, I apologize for those and I am not a pitcher but would enjoy the opportunity to give u a taste of my gas. I have decided to stop abusing the forum for my own personal entertainment for I have a job where I am online all day, and you can only read the star trib for so long. Anyhow, good luck to all the teams in the playoffs, and the talented squads who make it to state.

| Hambino and Veteran make perhaps two of the best posts ever on the forum!
I completely agree with the references to what we all obviously love to do which is play recreational baseball.
Whether we play for The Millers, in The Skyline, some new team full of 18 years olds that also play a legion schedule or any and all other clubs.....it is what it is. Just as is the case with the dreaded forum that brings out all the colors known to mankind.
Lets face we have it all here with some good, some bad, some in poor taste, some things make no sense, others are valid, some cats think they are good while others know they are good and choose not to say a word about.
Additionally, some sling slang around on here in all seriousness yet others do so in jest simply to get a rise out of others and or to pass time on shall we say use this venue as.....a poor man's facebook.
In closing, I prefer Caddyshack over Fletch and Major League.

| P.S. I think someone should write the script for a movie off some of the comments that have been posted on this forum. Title? "Baseball on the Forum"
We could follow it up with "Baseball On The Forum: Minor Leagues Non Affiliated"

| I liked Fletch Lives. Ben Dover was in jail for "molestin' a dead horse". That's good theatre.
