| Its that time of year again! Time to get the little ones ready to go back to school. I work for a non-profit called Congress Heights Community Training & Development Corp. and we are hosting a Back To School Night at the Columbia Heights Village Apartments.
This event will provide the families of Columbia Heights Village with information on various back to school topics such as shots, dental check-ups, uniform discounters, after/before care programs and transportation, from representatives with local businesses. We are also offering them free manicures, hair cuts and styles from our cosmetology and barbering students.
Just a little background - Columbia Heights Village is a low income housing development in NW DC that is about 99% Afro-Amer. and 98% subsidized.
I am posting to see if any teams, businesses or individual players would like to donate school supplies to this event. We would like to fill at least 20 bookbags to give to deserving children in this community, with crayons, pencils, composition books, pens, rulers and other basic school supplies.
The event is on Friday, August 19, 2011 (the Friday before DCPS reconvenes). We would like to have all donations no later than Monday, August 15, 2011. If you would like, your team, business or individual name will be posted as a sponsor for the event.
