It's all cost Rich. No one associated with running the league makes any money off it. It's all volunteer. Umpires make $18 a game and we plan for 2 a game. Scorekeepers make $10 a game..... etc..

We get 16 games PLUS playoffs. That averages out to 18 games a team. 18 games x $23 a game (18 for half umpire cost + 5 for half scorekeeper cost)is $414 alone.

Yes, but you still have to plan for them and charge for them in case they take all the available games. The league doesn't control the umpires. The Southern Illinois Umpires Association does. Games are offered and umpires take the ones they can.

We also pay a monthly Electric bill and other various bills through out the year. We do pay our scorekeepers $12 a game and they take care of the bases and some other field duties too.

Time to get your game together... old men get the oil cans out and start the running. Young men, get your muscles pumping...but remember this is softball not football. Quickness wins the day.
Cubs, Cards, Tigers, Royals, Yankees, White & Red Sox... does not matter. Time to have some fun this Spring... Let's begin a great year by showing to Mr Abney's gathering in March.
