| We now have played 5 games and by my count the low ceiling has come into play a total 6 times. Is it an issue? Are there any positives to it........possibly forcing QB's to be more creative in their play calling rather then just trying for a homerun every play?
So far there have been no plays made coming off the ceiling, but is having the ball be live off the ceiling a good rule?
Vote on the main page....and/or elaborate here

| I don't think its an issue and Kel made it look rather easy throwing deep against us last nite. The low ceiling does make u be a lil bit more creative which for a young team such as mine its a good thing bc u can't fall in love with the homerun and u have to tighten up on D bc of all the crossing routes.

| I think it's a non issue. QB's just have to adjust their arc. I've already seen a lot of good deep balls thrown with low trajectory.

| ya i dont think its an issue but i dont like the rule that you can play it off the net. should be dead soon as it hits. That would be terrible if a team lost on an int because it hit the net.
It appears this has not happened before - the catwalk deciding an important game. The Rays came back being down to the Twins 6-0 to tie at 6-6. With 2 outs in the 9th, instead of the game remaining a tie going into the bottom of the 9th, a routine popup was instead an RBI single. The Twins win the game in 9 when it should have been decided in extra innings.
The stadium is there so why not change the rules? Give umpires the authority to determine if it is a catchable ball or not. Solution seems simple. I don't know why this wasn't done a long time ago.
Catch the play in the story below:

Here are the ground rules. I think they need to be changed:
Tropicana Field's catwalks, a series of rings that help "lift" the stadium's translucent, teflon-coated fiberglass domed roof, provide the field's unique source of ground rules A batted ball that hits the catwalk, lights or suspended objects in foul territory will automatically be ruled a dead ball and it shall be called a strike. A batted ball that hits a catwalk, lights or suspended objects in fair territory shall be judged fair of foul in relation to the striking point on the ground or where it is touched by the fielder. If the ball hits the catwalk, lights or suspended objects in fair territory and lands in the field in fair territory or is touched by a fielder in fair territory, it shall be judged a fair ball. If the ball strikes the catwalk, lights or suspended objects in fair territory and is caught by a fielder in fair or foul territory, then the batter is out and the base runners run at their own risk. A batted ball that hits the catwalk, lights or suspended objects and remains on or in the catwalk, lights or suspended objects in foul territory is a foul ball and it shall be called a strike. A batted ball that hits the catwalk, lights or suspended objects and remains on or in the catwalk, lights or suspended objects in fair territory is a fair ball and it shall be called a double. A batted ball that hits either of the lower two catwalks, lights or suspended objects in fair territory is a home run.
