THURSDAY..........

WEAPON X 51
RAIDERS 16

It could be that the Raiders D was a bit over rated in the first 2 weeks or maybe it was playing a top 3 team for the 3rd straight week.........OR, and most probably, it was the fact that "the Rocket" was wearing the opposing jersey that doomed the Raiders. Jaime "rocket" Bryant put on a clinic on both sides of the ball, intercepting the Raiders 3 times (returning 1 for a TD) and throwing 6 TD passes (2 each to Todd "Showtime" Hill and Aaron "The Nature Boy" Goldberg) in the romp. This game was actually 19-10 with the Raiders threatening early in the 2nd half before a series of long TD's and interceptions doomed the Raiders. The lone bright spot for the Raiders was the 2 rushing TD's by RB Marcus McCrary.

PLAYER OF THE GAME......
Jaime "Rocket" Bryant (Weapon X)

KNIGHTS 14
CHARGERS 12

In a battle of undefeated's, it was the Southington Knights, behind indoor legend Kelvin Riddle who walked away with the victory and moved to 3-0. If you like defense this was the game for you as both teams held each others dynamic offenses in check. After several drives stalled for each team, Knights DE Anthony Kaponis flagged Chargers QB Moe Ramos in the endzone for a safety and a 2-0 lead. The Chargers defense quickly countered when Pat Hussey intercepted Riddle and pitch the ball to Rick Kirkland who streaked into the endzone putting the Chargers up 6-2. Fast forward to late in the game and Riddle was able to avoid being sacked on 4th and Goal and hit a high flying Rob Hernendez in the back of the endzone for an 8-6 lead. Again the Chargers quickly responded when Ramos threw a laser to Hussey who out jumped his defender and managed to stay in bounds....but a failed 2-pt coversion proved costly as Riddle drove the Knights down the field with less than 3 minutes to go. On 3rd and goal form the 15, Riddle again escaped pressure and used a stiff arm and spin move to sneak into the endzone. The Knights defense then held on two straight possessions to seal the win.

PLAYER OF THE GAME...........
Kelvin Riddle (Knights)

FRIDAY..........

BRONCOS 39
2ND STRING 36

We have had some good games so far this season, but the shootout between the Broncos and 2nd String has definitely been the most entertaining game yet. 2nd String looked a bit lax out of the gate but managed to take a 14-6 lead late into the 1st half behind Brian Gelsomino TD passes to Bryce Metzger and his twin Jay Gelsomino but they didnt look as in control as the score would appear. Broncos QB Dan McCaully shook off an early INT and scrambled for a 30 yard score (his 2nd rushing TD of the game), then hit WR Carlton Doty to take a 19-14 lead. The two teams then traded interceptions, TD's and questionable safeties and the score sat at 30-27 in favor of 2nd String with just about 5 minutes remaining. McCaulley then hit Doty for the 2nd time and took a 3 point lead. 2nd String answered with a 2 minute drive that ended in a Gelsomino to Chad Anselmo TD pass and a 36-33 lead with less than a minute to play. McCaulley and the Broncos got the ball back and used the sidelines and their one timeout perfectly to set up 4th and goal with 13 seconds remaining........McCaulley took the snap and scrembled to his right, looked down field, set his feet and delivered a strike to brother Matt McCaulley in the back of the endzone. Two plays later and the young Broncos had their first BIG win and look like a team to watch out for as the season goes on.

PLAYER OF THE GAME......
Dan McCaulley (QB) Broncos

HAWKS 20
COWBOYS 14

After 2 tough games to open the season, the Cowboys were looking to get back on track vs the newly formed Hawks............but the Hawks had other plans. Hawks QB Dave Gondek looked much more comfortable in his 2nd game, throwing for 3 TDs and no interceptions. With the score 20-14, the Cowboys had first and goal form inside the 20 but failed to capitalize on 4 straight plays against a fast Hawks defense that had 3 interceptions on the day. Cowboys WR Rivera caught both TD passes and dlineman Lester Caraballo and Jonathan Cummings chipped in 2 sacks a piece for the reeling Cowboys.

PLAYER OF THE GAME...........

Dave Gondek (QB) Hawks

Correction........QB McCaulley hit WR McCaulley to put you guys up 27-21, then 2nd string scored and had the safety to go up 30-27, Doty caught the next one and "muscled" his way into the endzone..........2nd string answered, then Matt ended the game.
