RAIDERS 16 HAWKS 15
The Raiders were facing a must win if they wanted to stay away from the #7 seed and be left out of the playoffs and the Hawks were looking to keep up with the upper half of the league. The Raiders came out strong behind WR turned QB Darnell Simpson as he connected with Miguel Aponte for a quick 6-0 lead. Raiders DB Bret Bynum then had his 2nd interception in the endzone to stop a Hawks drive and Simpson to Aponte again made it 12-0. The Hawks battled back and got TD's from WR Steve Dunbar on back to back drives as the hawks took a 13-12 lead. Oddly enough the teams traded safeties on their next three possessions to make the score 16-15. An INT by Hawks LB Strong with 25 seconds remaining gave them one last shot but fell short in this nailbiter.
PLAYER OF THE GAME...... Bret Burnham (DB) Raiders
2ND STRING 35 CHARGERS 29
Another week another primetime matchup between a top defense and a high scoring offense. Each team took turns having the momentum with 2nd String coming out swinging and jumping up on the Chargers 21-6. String QB Brian Gelsomino found JosH Klien and Bryce Metzger on consecutive drives and after the Chargers Guy Smith reeled in a TD catch 2nd string answered with a safety and a Gelsomino rushing score. The Chargers werent going to call it quits though and a Carl Bond INT led to a Bond receiving TD, followed by a safety and Smith's 2nd TD of the game to knot the score at 22-22. 2nd String would lad the next flurry of punches led by 2 sacks from Chad Anselmo, a Jay Gelsomino TD catch and the nail in the coffin INT for a TD by Brian Gelsomino. Chargers TE Uyi Osunde then broke a long TD but the Chargers couldnt make the stop on defense as they ran out of time.........
