| On Monday evening 3/26/12 at 7pm at Coventry Town Hall, in Town Council Chambers, the Coventry Town Council will consider a resolution establishing fees and a fee policy for the use of athletic fields. There are new provisions in the proposed fee policy. The public is invited to attend and participate in the proposed resolution.
The new proposal includes charging non-residents "up to double" what residents pay to participate in the league.

| Not to sound negative, but if this goes thru......ummmmm....
Bye bye cmsl...
It'll b 4 teams & a joke.
Hope u residents speak up!!
What a shame to let our league get ruined by improper use of political power... They'd make more $ on ticketing dog shit piles in our parks...
Someone must be the voice of reason here.

| What you guys dont understand is.... they dont care about Adult softball. You guys could rake the feilds and mow em every week and they still wouldnt care. If they make that a rule for residents, its gonba suck for all the people who put alot of hard work into this league.

| Just heard that one of the Phillips Hill fields got torn up by 4 wheelers. Non-resident players are definitely the problem though. I figure why stop at charging extra to those living outside of Coventry? Why not have any player of Jewish descent be required to wear a yellow star of David on their uniform?

| To be fair, there really arent enough facts listed about what we pay the town. The player fee of $45 doesnt go to the town..not to my knowledge. Its just the way CMSL has always broken down the moneys owed to the league. bascially $350 plus $45 X 15 or so. It all goes to the league. The league pays bills. Other leagues charge a flat fee..say $650...and then you pay the umps cash. I think CMSL the town of Coventry $450 as a field use fee. The league takes in about $16,000. Pays two umps per sunday $52 each at 8 different double headers.Thats the majority of the budget. $52 X 2 umps X 8 fields X 15 weeks is $12,480. Insurance, balls, minor expenses. Its gone. Any additional fee(s) that the town charges will be divided evenly among the teams and players. Guys from Cranston arent going to pay more than guys from Coventry. Thats just silly. No idea what the Town might add for additional fees ..but we can always cut expenses...like cut an ump . Lets see what shakes out first. Thanks for chiming in Tommy Utah.!

| Its a dream. Until the next mega millions drawing. The Stevens Snack Shack gets built first. If there is any money left, the Stevens Puking Trough wil be built. Because, obviously, should I win I will allow Stevens to spend the rest of his days just eating and drinking. Then maybe we roll out a couple of fields...

| Due to our meeting, i don't think anyone attended this meeting.
Bob is right, most of our budget is umpires. The town gets about $800 for the use of fields. Up until two years ago they never charged us anything.
If this does go through, we'll discuss all of our options to cover the additional fees.
If this does go through, how would they force us to be resident only when they are making money from the nonresidents.
And to agree with Mac, if we didn't exist, they would still have to cut the grass and drag the field once every two weeks.

| I just talked to a very reliable source about the meeting this past Monday night. I was told the whole "non-resident player fee being doubled" did NOT get passed. And then was taken off the table. I don't know for how long but as of this season and next season I would say we shouldn't have to worry about it until it's brought up again.

| Alright i have spoken to several different people including the one Dionne talked to and have received conflicting reports of what happened at the meeting. The one thing i know for sure if the fee structure has changed that being said someone needs to meet with Guy to get the specifics so we as a league can prepare for any additional expenses that may be charged.
