STEELERS vs BRASS CITY HORSE
The Steelers of Hartford come to the league looking for a change of scenery and some new competition and a chance to claim the only league title that is missing from their trophy case. The Brass City Horse (formely Pookies Saints) are trying to build on a strong finish in last years Spring league and their championship in a mmuch dilluted fall league. Traditionally a physical smash mouth team led by versatile signal caller Rob Saunders, the Horse may be in trouble early on as word is many key parts to last years team have diffected to teh Hawks and Canes. If the bruisers are still in uniform and Saunders is at the helm then the team will come together quickly. In order for the Horse to win this one they will have to impose their will on the Steelers and beat them at their own game. Look for the Steelers to try and out muscle the Horse with their 4 down rush and a steady dose of Rocket at QB should be enough for the Steelers in this one.

PREDICTION
STEELERS 27
BRASS CITY HORSE 14

TIG OL BITTIES vs WARRIORS
This should be a great matchup between two squads who snuck up on the league and had impressive spring seasons last year. The Bitties at full strength can play ball with just about anyone, largely due to team chemistry and the QB play of Kerry Palmer. Oft used TE/HB Tim Uhl is another multi-dimensional weapon who poses problems for defenses. Protection and mental errors have been weaknesses in the bitties losses and it will be interesting to see how they match up against the young guru Chase Mayossuer and his Warriors. The youngsters from Southington will look to make a name for themselves this season and have their eye on a championship as many of these one time teens are now matured and seasoned vets. It will be hard ro get a true read on them, however, until the return of Mr. Dube and Connor from college but there is plenty of talent to get the job done in the meantime. This game will likely come down to discipline and adjustments and both of those factors scream Chase and the Warriors to me

PREDICTION
WARRIORS 22
TIG OL BITTIES 16

CHARGERS vs SPARTANS
Not exactly a showstopping matchup out of the gate for the Chargers but whispers from the CT Bulldogs is that the Spartans are much improved from last spring and although they are still undersized in the trenches they have several bigtime athletes and the depth to be more than competitive this season. The Spartans will likely go as far as Coach and QB Phil Cushon and his legs will carry them. Not a pure passer, Cushon makes his bones by extending plays and breaking the pocket. The Chargers on the otherhand are coming in thinking championship after falling in last years chip. They were dominant in the fall league going 12-0 and wrapped up an indoor chip last week........can they go 3 for 3 with a Waterbury title? The QB position is an unknown but you can bet that Shank and Chris have an ace up their sleeve. Improvements along the Oline and defensive secondary will make the Chargers a tough out all season long. If the Spartans are to have a chance here they need to play mistake free and loose.......and somehow slow down the Chargers D-line

PREDICTION
CHARGERS 31
SPARTANS 12

SOUTHSIDE CANES vs CHIEFS
Yes, you read that right, SOUTHSIDE Canes! The merger between the teams is complete and coach's justin Walter and Abby Johnson look to lead this squad to the promise land. Their is loads of talent here and the sky is the limit for this squad as long as they can keep egos and differences inpersonalities in check. If QB Moe Ramos can match his level of play from the fall then this team is a legit title contender and should have little problem with the Chiefs. The Bristol Chiefs come back after a dissappointing first season that had flashes of positives but for the most part just lacked numbers and commitment. Coach Devyn Kittles has been rumored to have revamped the roster and hopes to be Bristols best team in the league. They are going to have their hands full on opening day and will need to find answers for Walters, Reggie Hunter and the rest of the Canes offense if they are to stay in this one.

PREDICTION
SOUTHSIDE CANES 27
CHIEFS 8

BRONCOS vs CHIEFS
Here come the Broncos........led by QB Dan McCaulley and a a mix of new and old faces (some YG cast offs included), Coach Carlton Doty is hoping he found the recipe for success in his 3rd go round. Defensively they look solid and McCaulley is talented enough to win in any league but can the Broncos (without Cedric and Ricky) give him time to throw? The Chiefs will be playing their second game of the day and usually that is tough for any team but as young as this team is it may actually work in their favor as the have a game to get the jitter out and build a little cohesion. Should be an interesting start to the year for both squads

PREDICTION
CHIEFS 13
BRONCOS 12

HAWKS vs SOUTHSIDE CANES
This is the game that I want to see, the Hawks are young, fast, scrappy and are led by a new stud QB in Dave Godek. Throw in the "southside" element and local rivalry and this game can be an instant classic. There are rumors that Godek is nursing a bum ankle and if thats the case I dont know that the Hawks have what it takes but a healthy Godek will change everything. The Canes 2 down front may actually work against them here and should look to send pressure whetehr Godek palys or not, if hes in.....make him run on that ankle and attack the Hwaks Oline as its their weekness, if hes out........force his replacement to think quick which often leads to mistakes and turnovers. Conversely the Hawks have some playmakers, especially WR Stevie Dunbar who can make the Canes pay if they get to aggressive. Should be a good one to end the day

PREDICTION
SOUTHSIDE CANES 24
HAWKS 18
