| I'll throw out some rankings to spark the discussion:
1. Stockmen's Irish 2. Minnetonka 3. St. Louis Park 4. Minneapolis Angels 5. Lyon's Pub 6. Minneapolis Lakers 7. St. Paul Shamrock 8. Bloomington 9. North End 10. St. Anthony / St. Paul Capitals (tie)
I guess I cheated and named eleven. These are not scientific, of course, and without full knowledge of all the new players teams may have brought on board, my apologies if I've slighted anyone.
Stockmen's won state last year and deserve to start the season as the No. 1. But really, you could swap Tonka or Park in there, and it would be hard to argue against that given their consistency year after year.
The Angels really loaded up on talent this offseason and might finally be ready to make a push deep into the state tournament. The Lakers and North End make my list after solid showings in the tournament last year the Lakers featured spectacular pitching performances last August and deserve a tip of the cap for what they were able to accomplish. Same thing for North End gutsy performances from the pitching staff and one-man wrecking crew Tijl Vanderwege.
For the last spot, I couldn't decide between the Capitals and Hogs. Both teams had a dominant regular season, but stumbled in their league playoffs. The Hogs have great pitching and could be a sleeper pick if their bats can get hot at the right time. Also, they maintain one of the nicest fields in all of Class A.

| This list looks pretty good, although to rank the Angels so high without them playing a game I think is an error. The Pub should be the highest ranked P-Nash team, coming off a 2nd place finish in state.
Not saying the Angels shouldn't be ranked, just to high IMO.

| Ranking the Angels 4th might be a bold projection, but I'm selling long on that investment. I really think they're going to have a great season (and no, I don't play for them).

| The Metro Knights although have Stockman's to try to fight through have got a lot more pitching this year and the bats should turn around. Not saying they are a top 10 team but could be a sleeper.

| With all of the attrition west of the river, the Skyline may have an opportunity to increase its standing this year, but aside from Stockmen's, the Skyline hasn't made much of a statement come tournament time. All it takes is for a team to get hot at the right time (see North End, Lakers). The only teams in the Skyline with the depth to pull that off today Stockmen's, St. Anthony, and maybe North St. Paul. Let's hope that puts a chip on the shoulder of the other teams prove me wrong.

| Mpls Lakers didnt really get "hot" late last year. They were very solid all year in the Park National League and vs outstate clubs. They have a young core of guys who play competitive college ball. Not sure about North End, but i know first hand they were playing good ball in State last year. Stockmens is a legit club and deserve respect, but not Im sure who else in Skyline can be taken seriously (as far as making a run in State this year). Only time will tell i guess... good luck to all teams. season is here!

| I want to know when Class "A" will finally go to 9 inning baseball. Let's see this happen...

| good question and i would rather play a 9 inning game - but that would add around $1,000+ in expenses (between added umpire fees and more rented hours for Parade @ $100 per hour) to all 8 teams in the Park National League.

| Maybe we could combine leagues and the Millers could take some of that revenue that they spend on players and differ some costs...kindof like a luxury tax.
Now that I have pissed off all of the Millers I will say just kidding.
9 inning games are great, but as Tall & Lanky said, the fees for certain leagues would be too high. Plus the fact that we could only play 1 game per night at Parade...which is another problem.

| Tall & Lanky my comment about certain teams getting "hot" wasn't meant as a slight in anyway. Obviously every team that made the state tournament played at a high level all season long. I simply meant that the Lakers, North End, and Stockmen's were firing on all cylinders in the state tourney. Gotham manned up big-time. And it takes that kind of a performance to topple a team like the Millers. A few breaks here or there in that weeknight game against Stockmen's (which was a pitcher's duel for the first 8 innings), and it might have been the Lakers defending a championship this summer.

| How can B & C afford to play 9 innings if it's such a dramatic increase in cost? Are those leagues richer than A? It's all about budgeting isn't it?

| B & C have their own fields, so they either pay nothing or close to nothing to use the field they play on. They also, sometimes, make money off concession and/or gate sales. On top of that, sometimes these towns have a Baseball Association that gives or helps raise money for the local mens amatuer team. On top of that, if you go to State in B or C, you get a piece of the gate.....winner takes home a nice check. Class A pays out of our own pockets just to put on a State Tournament.. I can only speak for the Park National, because I understand our situation. But basically, its just different circumstances that we in Class A have to deal with.

| I just think that the Angels added enough pieces this winter to be in the discussion. Some may disagree and not yet consider them among the elite. But after adding 3 of the Rocks' top 4 hitters and a couple of their pitchers, I think they're poised to do well in 2012.

| Im gonna stick with the fact that the only "elite" team in the Pnash is the Pub. With last years finish and their consistency I think they have established that.
The Angels and Lakers are right underneath, both have made runs before, and have good players, but lets see them make the jump to a perennial Title contender. Then they would be "elite" in my mind.
The PNash will be strong this year...very strong. It will be very interesting to see how it shakes out in league play. As Mike Tice once said "Enjoy The Season".

| Troll..haha good one. I guess I can't really respond to that well thought out comment.
I guess I'm just a purist who believes baseball was meant to be played in 9 innings. If you disagree, that's perfectly fine. But to instead say I'm a troll, hmmm...well played.

| If you want to build us a field, let us play there for free, charge admission which we get the full gate, operate a concession stand, sell beer, advertise for people to come to our games, and get a booster club which donates money for repairs...then I would love to switch to 9 inning games. Where do I sign?
I think baseball should be 9 innings as well, but the reality is that it isn't logistically possible for some teams.
