I recently was forwarded to this message board to see the whole Kam Koplitz forum, and read a few other posts as well. So far all I've seen is b!tching. It's late April and we are getting ready for ball season and I'm personally pretty happy to get to play another season of ball with you folks in the Rock. So to counter all the complaining, I offer a few good things about the Rock:
1) Oscar calling everyone safe, even if they are stone drunk and holding a live grenade in the middle of an elementary school playground.
2) Dollar beer days at Rubicon.
3) The nastiness of Dan Held's curveball, even though I never saw it in person.
4) Mud Kittens.
5) Carl: "One more word, Number 6, and you're outta here!" Warren: "Carl, I'm number 8." Carl: "Hell, I can't see that far." (Warren was 30 ft away)
6) Pat Soule's chew stained chin hair.
7) The nickname "Fatty McButterpants"
8) The Wes-Philosophy that if even if you are stinking drunk at 2:30 AM, as long as you smoke a Swisher Sweet on the ride home the cop will never smell the booze on your breath.

I know posts about controversial subjects or those b!tching about umpires will get more responses, but let's not forget that this is a pretty fun league to play in. Feel free to add your favorite reasons to play in the Rock.

1. Watching 3rd generation players enjoying the same game as their grandfathers.

2. "Let's rattle up some runs"

3. Dollar beers

4. No fee for parking

5. The view from the top to watch a game in Hustisford.

6. The mell of brats on the grille.

7. The sound of the wooden bats making solid contact with the horsehide.

8. Loyal fans cheering on their sons, friends, nephews, grandsons and local kids not some multi millionaire spoiled players that they never will meet.

9. Long nights after games with a beverage.

Maybe you should come to an oldtimers banquet and listen to some of the greats talk about there playing days. They did there share of whining but made up for it with their play. They never let an ump beat them. Hit the damn ball boys you don't need and ump to call it.
