Its been a while for me but when I heard about the night time RC action, I had to take a look. Its been a few years since i have even touched a radio and i was itching to have a go once again. I went down to homestead and found one of the best facilities you can ask for anywhere in the united states. My understanding is that its the longest in the country. The facilities are awesome! Johnny and crew have done an excellent job!

It seems a lot of things have changed in the years i've been away but mostly the prices for most RC cars have gone up quite a bit. My favorite has always been 1/10 gas touring but it seems that kit prices, engines, and support equipment has at least doubled in price.

My friend Alex and I took our ole electric cars to give them a whirl while we decide what were going to do as far as final setup and car. We were surprised at how well our little electric cars did on the track and are now tuning in a bit just to mess around. Johnny also mentioned that the track will have 2 layouts!! That's great since electrics can run one while gas can run the other. Personally I would like to run on the larger track since with all the new technology in electrics that might be an option as well.

In any case for me and Alex we are looking for an inexpensive option that beginners can get into without breaking the bank and can ease new comers to the hobby. That's really where it all starts anyway. I remember when i started I had a very inexpensive setup and it allowed me to get involved and enjoy the hobby.

I think its very doable.. There are some pretty cool options we're exploring. Im hoping to get out there next week and do some testing with Alex with cars designed to keep expense and learning curve down while still having pro level fun.

Anyway its been may years since i have posted here. I hope these discussions grow and those who want to get into the hobby go out and visit the track. Its really TOP NOTCH!

Cheers

Andy

Not sure if your still out there on not but I would recommend the GT8 class of nitro racing for getting back into the hobby. These are 1/8 scale shaft drive rubber tire cars that are tough. Care and maintenance is much less than the 1/10 scale sedan class. Drive time is longer and they are a blast! Homestead is having a big race featuring these cars Jan 18,19,20th 2013. Come out and check them out!
