Lights Out drops out of league. Something has to be done this is starting to get crazy. Now (4) teams in the league. Would like to know what happens to the records of the remaining teams. If you played them does it count, and if you did not play them what happens?

Another matter with the league being double headers on Monday's with these rainouts why are the games not being made up on Wednesday's this would be logical wouldn't it.

Another matter with Lights Out packing it up what are the rules with there players, can they be picked up by other American teams are they allowed to drop to the Continental and if so how many players per team.

Another matter with only (4) teams in the American what is the point? Bills vs Villa Mannino all year, its stupid. Why not combine the American with the Continental for the Regular Season and then split it up for the playoffs with a top and bottom division. Or how about just disbanding the American all together, I have heard this mentioned? If that is done now your raising all kinds of matters, the American is basically a league of tournament ball players from B, C, and D teams so what you are saying is they are not allowed to play league ball? Basically your penalizing them for being pretty good players. And if you do combine leagues how many players are you going to allow on the same team from the American, etc. The American League is in chaos and Andy has his hands full, I do not envy his position at all.

Another matter would be bats, if Andy was to use supplied league bats, or single wall only this might jump the number of teams up that would play against the American Teams and players week in and week out, just a thought. What do you guys think?

I agree with the league bats. that would solve most of the problems. that should be done in all leagues and tournaments.

WOW thats nuts and all good points... Not all teams use shaved bats my team it is not allowed to be used and as the team manager nobody else owns bats besides me (scrubs i play with) haha but seriously continental and American should be 1 league and split playoffs like fall league... it will only make MERCER COUNTY SOFTBALL BETTER...... the better the competition you play the better it makes teams...

If Amer and Cont are combined for next year the games should be played on tues and thurs so guys can play in Ewing and Hamilton on Mon and Wed. Move that low division to an odd night. It will be good for mercer softball by making the continental players better and it will raise the level of play in the other leagues. Remember when hamilton had a triple A. Remember when Ewing had an upper league. More good players from the area playing more nights with and against each other.

The reason teams drop out of the American is because they have to bring in out of area talent to compete and those players cant make games. Villa Mannino is good every year because they are close knit and most of those guys are from the area, same with Bills this year. Deisel dropped out last year because they had players coming from out of area. Same with lights out this year.

I would be onboard with league bats but I couldnt get it out of the infield without a painted ultra 2. Maybe we can develop a handicapping system where some players would have to use wood and I can still swing the paint.

Hadicapp, i do agree. How about this with the American being the majority of tournament ball players having the league on Mondays makes no sense. I have praised Andy on this board time in and time out, but I have to say he dropped the ball with that one. You play a tournament on the weekend say 4 or 5 games and then a double header for league on Monday makes no sense. League should be later in the week. Then go to league provided bats, keep the double headers, what this would do is bring in more teams. I have said it time and time again there are other leagues in the state that have done this and doubled there teams. People want to play against the best comp on a equal playing field. Andy needs to select a commititee that could over see and run this. Also bring back the scoreboard and open the concession stand. Talk to the county get people together that can make it work like the good old days. Opening the concession stand would generate major income for the league and bring people out to watch the games. Fix the scoreboard, there are enough good sponsors out there that would help you just have to ask. Then bring in offical non biased score keepers that would score the games. Open the press box back up, and put the games and stats back in the paper, etc. Things can be done to generate the same excitement that used to be in the Mercer League. The younger guys couldn't imagine the people that used to come out to the park, hundreds the concession stand was open the scorekeeper was up stairs announincing and scoring the games the scoreboard was on it was great. Families would come out, etc. Now with the excitment back you generate more teams better teams and more money. Andy I hope you read this buddy because there are people out there that want to help you just have to let us do it, and most of all you have to want to.

I like the sound of it. Why not get all the players and managers toghether to get this going. Perhaps bring this up at one of the meetings.
