| I wanted to take a moment to officially say goodbye to most of you if I don’t see you on the field in the fall as I will not be returning to CMSL next year after this fall. I’ve spent 28 years on the diamond (played all my life up to college ball, coached boys and girls, AAU all the way down to instructional Tee ball) and after this year, it’s time for me to take a step back. I’ve lost focus on my real priorities in life and at this time, I need to regroup before it’s too late and focus on what matters most: Family, career, health etc. Around the end of the year, I’m moving back closer to family in Mass where I can focus on being a better person. These areas have taken a backseat for me to search for the alleviation of life’s stresses that I’ve sought out through being on the diamond and it’s come to the point where this game has become a source of stress and not an outlet for it. Drama, finger pointing, arguments and after this weekend, I’ve had 3 physical altercations all within the last two years….it’s just not worth it anymore. It’s bringing out the worst in me and my elders (alive or dead) would be embarrassed.
Most of you that really know me as a friend, know that I value loyalty and integrity as true values that I hold at the highest level……..and I’m sure there will be some of you that want to throw a joke in on this thread and bash me…..that’s fine, I’m no longer on that level. I’m trying to convey that although I seem hot-headed at times, I do not wish any ill will towards anyone whom I might have had words with in the past within this league…if I offended you with an insult, I am truly sorry. Water under the bridge as far as I’m concerned. I do not wish to be judged from my softball abilities (or lack thereof) but more about how much of a man that I am. Only I can change that.
I must say that I really enjoyed this league more than any other banter, laughs, beers, stories and most of all the friends that I’ve made. I truly cherish the memories created and they are appreciated.
Ian, you’ve done a great job with this league as it’s one of the best run in the northeast…..it’s one tough ass job that I don’t wish upon anyone and it becomes thankless at times. Well this time, I tip my cap to you buddy. Word of advice for the board: Go to A and B division, it makes more sense.
Thank you to all of you that have made this game enjoyable for me on and off the field.
Matty Mallette.

| Well said Matt. Very sincere. Good luck. The league will be diminished by about 50 lasers to left center next year.
