Author TOPIC: Rule change on Fumbles

I'm just throwing it out there but I could really do without live fumbles. I know other people have said the same. It's a guaranteed injury every week. I love it when it's a snap that barely toouches the ground or when the return man on a kickoff muffs it a bit and no one is within 20 yds but when it's a muffed punt or pitch, it's been a disaster. It was last fall.

I'd really like to see it go back to dead ball to avoid serious injury. It's just too easy to roll up an ankle. My brother's ankle got torched last week and I know he's not the only one. I'm not saying it just cuz he got hurt either. I never liked it last year. It's rare that I see injuries in flag(knock on wood) but the live fumble is one of the biggest culprits.

Does everyone really want this or can we come to a consensus? If everyone is dying to dive on fumbles and break bones and shit, then fine but if I'm not the only one that's thinking this, can we try to change this?

I'm glad we used common sense and brought back the stiff arm. the nly thing I've ever seen a stiff arm hurt, is someone's feelings haha.

Let me know what you guys think.

Hack, we tried at the meeting but Commissioner Pete Miller is steadfastly hell bent on preserving the live fumble in this league.......youll have to take it up with him and GOOD LUCK

For the record I dont mind it, but would be fine if it was just ammended to the c/QB exchange

Pete made a good point last week. If you dont want to jump on the live fumble then dont, move away.

That's the worst point I've ever heard actually.

The league should try to uphold player safety and I'm telling you that someone is going to get hurt. People, in the heart of the game and as competitive as we all are, are not going to just move away.

I will. I have to go to work tomorrow but someone else is going to get piled up on even if that isn't their choice.

So no, I actually think that comment makes no sense at all.

Ish says tht now until he suffers a injury from it, but ur right, not only a broken bone, but i kno jumping in a pile wit no equipment can have bad injuries, u also gotta think, no equipment, some one can break something, get ur head split or even gashed with a cleat, its just dangerous for a RECREATIONAL sport

It is true that if u don't wanna jump on the fumble then don't and I can honestly say I won't only because an injury that keeps me outta work for a long period of time hurts my family. I think it's something that should be reconsidered because I seen 2 guys from the wolverines running full speed at the Qb and then crash into each going for a live fumble I'm surprised neither guy was seriously hurt.
@ Chris, I have a question what happens if someone does get seriously hurt considering none of us signed waivers? I'm sure many of us have insurance but what about the ones who don't?

I cannot speak for Pete or the WFFL but the GCFFA has Insurance, however we also have teams sign waivers do to the stipulations of our insurance provider

My concerns are for anyone playing center or the qb's when it comes to fumbles, honestly any linemen out there bc of the bodies diving around there legs for fumbles. Also I hope Pete gave thought to the fact that none of us signed waivers.
