| Ish5knight u know the mcffu refs from hartford ref in spring, 4 chris when u played in hartford, we r the best in flag football so I don't know what ur talking about,all teams in waterbury should know the guy running fall didn't need us, that's y we ref in hartford now, so that's that's,end of story?

| To the refs. Bottom line is that your job is hard yes. You guys are watching a ton of stuff and its difficult to see it all. The majority of you guys do a good job. But my beef is that you guys have a hard time listening to players when they voice concerns especially when you guys are wrong about calls. I've only heard maybe 2-3 refs ever admit that they missed a call and understood frustrations from players invloved. Most of the time you guys dont even care to listen to our point of view. Or miss blatent fouls. And at the same time we bitch and cry and moan when we should shutup and play. My be qualm is the lack of knowledge most refs actually possess.

@ish i agree, we know how difficult it is to be a ref, but when you're wrong, don't pull the authority card because you know you're wrong and you don't want to seem like a fool. All we ask is for fair games, and when you have a bad call, be a student and learn. It's not like you're volunteering your time.
but then again what do i know, I WAS going to be "beware" for halloween but there was a recall on the mask..lol

| what I dont get is why they get all defensive and get all huffy and say this is waterbury flag football not those other leagues. Dont they realize there rules are fucked up its like they can care less if anyone likes it as long as they can say they arent those other leagues.

| I got to agree with Ish.......the refs can only dictate so much, teams need to stop making excuses.
BUT I agree that a few of the rules need to be changed or amended and a simple YES or NO answer to a simple YES or NO question shouldnt be to much to ask with these guys.

| My team as been very guilty of bad play but that doesn't make me a bum and just because we have played bad doesn't mean I should tolerate horrible officiating. Also I'm trying to make sure that no one gets by a horrible call or by guys who clearly don't know the rules that's my reason for the phone call to Pete.
P.S yes Ish, I want fair games for you guys also whether your the best or not.

| Just to be clear, my observation is not so much bad officiating but antiquated or bad rules. Overall I think the officials are fair enough (except they never answer a yes or no question with a yes or no LOL) I just dont agree with some of the rules as they are written and/or interpreted.

| Just like you want the refs to be great and make every call and know every rule guess what they are human they wont. Do you think the refs want to see guys tripping on themselves, dropping passes, missing blocks, getting roasted in coverage. No. My point being is the reason why they ref recreation football is because they arent good enough to be in the NFL. The reason we play recreation football is because we arent good enough to be in the NFL. You can dog the refs because they arent perfect. Those who havent excepted that fact probably hasnt excepted they fact that they stink when they do.

| The fact is they make $30 per hour CASH (paid by us the coustomer) and they talk to us like we are lucky to have them. pete is so worried about the history of flag football in waterbury and the fact that evryone goes to chris or refers to chris about things that he cant see he is wrong. just cause you do something for 30 years doesnt mean its right it means youve been doing it for 30 years

| I really don't think the refs care about all those things you named because if they do then there not looking at the things they should be looking at on the field when calling a game if there looking at it from more of a fan perspective. I don't want them to be perfect because no one is or capable of that but I do expect them to know the rules but I'm sure you will find a way to rip that apart also because I guess I'm talking to the most perfect flag football player ever.
@Chris, thanx for correcting me I should have said there not being consistent with there calls.

| I usually dont post on the board. But I have to speak up here.
First Im 1 of 3 of the captains on the Trojans. I don't really say much, until I have to stick up for my team. Shit if I dont then I shouldnt be a captain. With that said, Im sure some have of you have seen me spazzin @ pete after the Wolverines game. So to comment on this and that, pete really cheating us for our time.
From what I understand, the game is Four 20 min quarters. So dont cheat my team out of the last 10mins of GAME TIME and collect my cash because we are up a few scores. No disrespect to other teams but we like to score points. My Trojans run a no huddle offense so we can keep scoring.
Another problem I have is the play clock. On many occasions teams have been looking for their ball to punt and eat up 2mins of the GAME CLOCK. With no play clock, warning whistle, or even a penalty warning. I think that is bullshit, my team can score 2 times in 2 mins. Like I said no disrespect to other teams, but my team can or any team can do that.
So after explaining those 2 things to pete on the field and after the game. He says Ive been doing this 30 years and this has never effect anyone else. So leave me alone and dont tell me how to run my league. So I ask him, so as a ref you can do what you want? He says yes. Thats when I spazzed.

| I did see that #2 but had no idea what it was about.
At the end of the day I have to take some responsibility because in my preseason talks with Pete I thought I could be the middle ground to bring the WFFL into the 21st century of flag but with the exception of adding stiff arms that has not been the case.
It seems pretty apparent that the majority consumer and the excepted standards of 9-man flag today take a back seat to the rules, traditions and ego of the WFFL.

| Not sure if we need new refs but we def need more than 2 refs per game. Or at least ones in better shape that will move to see the action. One ref didnt even move this past Sunday. It was almost like he was a spectator.

| u all need 2 get on the same page as rules go.the refs need 2 have respect for the players and take charge of the game.keeping track of game time and the play clock and flag the team if ball isn't on the field.everyone should use 1 ball and it should be a nfl ball.u should have a meeting with the refs and go over the rules and change rules u think need 2 change.good luck.
