Foster field is no longer for softball. Depending on teams next year we may have to return to 1200 games. We will not be able to stop using fields like wash oak or hunters as many of you have requested. The girls league plans on using their third field next year but I don't believe we would have access until fall.....maybe.

I expect the girls league will need some physical labor at some point next spring and I hope we can really step up and assist. Put it in the back of your mind so it's not a surprise in 6 months.

Have a great winter.

Subject: Field Usage

To all League Presidents:There will be changes in field use beginning
in the 2013 spring season. These changes may affect your league.
Foster Field #3 will no longer be utilized as a softball field. Foster
#3 will become an all grass field used for lacrosse and soccer only.
The diamond, dugouts and single gates will be eliminated. A double
gate will remain for access onto the field. Flat River Field #2 will
be eliminated from recreation use. Field #2 will soon be the home of
The Coventry Dog Park. The Dog Park will be operated and maintained by
a dog park committee. Fields #3, #4 and #5 will still be used for
athletics. Due to the renovation on Foster #3 and the elimination of
Flat River #2, field scheduling will be tighter than ever before
impacting the non-compliant programs first. Each year the Coventry
Parks & Recreation Dept. has provided enough time slots to each league
for practices and games based on the number of teams in your league.
It is up to the Field Director of each league to schedule practice/game
time slots. Field Directors need to make the most of the time slots
allotted to their league. In the past some leagues may have not
utilized early morning Sunday time slots and later Saturday slots. In
order to be able to provide all teams with adequate time each Field
Director must utilize all slots given to them. If your league is
currently involved in Fall Ball, please e-mail me the date that you
will no longer be using fields. If you are playing at Paine Field I
need to know when you will be finished cleaning your concession stand.
Our foreman needs to know when we can shut the water off. This must be
completed no later than 11/1/12. Jason LicciardiProgram
Supervisor

maybe we should think about taking 2 fields we have for practice during weeknites and having 2 6pm games and rotate between all the teams in the league so each team plays 2 weeknite games like the womens league does to eliminate 12 pm games. take a wed or a fri nite that has a field open and have 2 teams play at 6 and 7 in the summer, stays lite till almost 9. what about rice field? there has to be some alternatives then having 12oclock games in the summer, everyone agrees that blows, anyone have any other ideas?

If I am correct I believe we do not have any time slots for practices any longer as of this past yr. I would suggest starting at 9

Use Amby as another outlet. Guy and Coventry Suck. They have no money so they are looking for ways to waste more. A dog park really. That will make the town some money.

I agree with Dutilly. Lets start at 8:30 or 9, it eliminates 12pm games.

Demo - We eliminated practice times during the week this season completely, due to town expectations.(Meaning $ and bullshit)

Start games at 9. I don't think we can use Amby due to insurance reasons. I think we would have to become a league associated with Jefferson Indoor.

Either way, Guy needs to lose his job. Lacrosse doesn't have the earning power softball does, not like he ever took advantage of that anyways.

When's the 4, 300 ft fenced in Lb4Lb complex going up in Coventry?

Josh, I think the very first step is a Political Action. Essentially the Town of Coventry's Town Council needs to be made aware of a few factors. #1 The Coventry Mens League actually fixed and repaired a very heavily damage field on their own. #2 The league brings business into the town on Sunday afternoons after the games. #3 The surrounding towns such as West Warwick, Scituate, West Greenwich do not have adult recreational leagues and thus Coventry stands to benefit from this fact if they choose to assist us. #4 The majority of sponsors are from the town. #5 Many are tax paying citizens of Coventry either through their homes or businesses. I suggest taking part in the political process and attending a town meeting and voicing this to the Town Council.

Dionne, you should be running for a seat on the town council anyways. You are a small business owner in the town and your voice could do a lot of good. You may have to shave that hunk of road kill of your face though.

Start at 9. 1 and 1 count! Don't be afraid of having a strike on you. It is slow pitch softball. Or you have to set time limits on the games. Playing ball til 2 on a Sunday isn't fun.

one again, amazingly, Big Juice is the voice of reason. 1-1 count...and.....a mat! yes a frigin mat. lets make the RKG even more unhittable. And, if these rules go through...I want Goodwin to unretire so pitches he would have walked on in 2010.... he whiffs on in 2013.
