Re: Team Participation in the 2013 VA Beach Tournament
The Washington Area Flag Football League (WAFFL) is having its’ third annual Virginia Beach 8-Man Pro and Competitive Eligible tournament on June 22-23, 2013. It’s our intent to bring together teams from all parts of the United States, regardless of their league and/or organization affiliation, to stage the best and most competitive tournament possible. The Tournament will offer great play, new faces, family values and thrills.
Understanding that travel costs can be expensive and a determining factor in out-of-town travels, we have secured a booking agent for your hotel needs in the surrounding areas in Chesapeake, VA, to provide teams a variety of accommodation for affordable prices. The website to make your team’s reservations is http://showcasemgmt.com/services/football/waffl. It requested that a team representative make all reservations for their team to alleviate duplication and confusion. It is also imperative and REQUIRED that teams participating in the 2013 tournament utilized the hotel and/or motels offered by the tournament in order to be eligible to receive the CASH prizes, discounts and/or other activities that will be offered.
The fees for the Men’s and Women Pro and Comp divisions will be $475, with a $25 discount given to teams attending the coaches meeting Friday June 21, and $40 per game referee fee, with guaranteed cash prizes of $1,000 for first place and $500 for second placed (1st & 2nd w/ ten paid teams each division) and a paid bid with 6 free rooms, if team utilize WAFFL Hotels with a minimum of 10 booked room for two night stay, for 2014 VA Beach tournament. Fields location is Princess Anne Athletic Complex on Dam Neck Road, VA Beach, VA. A REMINDER to teams, for the quarterfinals through the championship games, the referee fees will be paid by the WAFFL. Please call me with any inquires. | The Hampton Jazz Festival always falls on the last weekend in June, that does not include a day in July. Last year it was June 22-24, with the last Saturday and Sunday being the 30th and 1st. We asked for the June 28-30, 2013; but, PAAC was booked that weekend. Their representative stated that they have a long standing relationship with the Women Lacrosse Assc and that the last Satrurday in June has always been set aside for them. Thereby, the the 21-23 was the only available date to the WAFFL, which we reserved. Including the Hampton Jazz Festival with the tournament was our goal; but, the 2013 Festival fell on the fifth Saturday, not the fourth, as was also the case in 2011 and 2012. I hope this clarifies the situation. Thank you.
