Speaking with a few guys around the league , it has come to my attention that a lot of loyal and great guys have been forced off their teams. If a guy way on your team and showed great loyalty, why are these guys told that they won't get any playing time with a team they have played on for years. Managers, this is a men's league and you guys have proven what it's league is about. Recruiting Warwick guys and benching your friends. We will see what happens tomorrow but I can't believe the lack of devotion in a beer league. This is not MLB, this is supposed to be fun. Stop this bs and I'm sad to hear what's going on. Good luck to all

2002 - 13 teams
2003 - 14 teams
2004 - 12 teams
2005 - 16 teams
2006 - 15 teams
2007 - 16 teams
2008 - 16 teams
2009 - 16 teams
2010 - 16 teams
2011 - 16 teams
2012 - 15 teams
2013 - 14 teams

Lots of players have come and gone over the years, but there are very few managers. We have room for two teams next year if anyone is interested in running a team.

We do not have a waiting list any longer. If you would like to put your name on the list to have first shot at a team next year, please give me a call, email, or text.

I hate to see players leave the league. I also hate to see the 13 guys that spend a ridiculous amount of time running a team criticized for the decisions they make. Clearly, no one else is willing to accept the challenge of running a team.

Thank you managers

Welp that obviously was for me, thank you Ian for the back up, let me just put this out there, no one was kicked off my team, with the exception of 1 due to a bad attitude which all managers can attest happens now and again. Honest conversations were had, and people made their own decisions, i made sure of that, if anyone has a problem contact me directly I dont hide behind a fake user name, HOWIE H 603-398-2347, if someone felt mistreated I can understand that, and I apologize, but we were honest with everyone, about where they stood and were givin plenty of time to find another team.

Having run many teams over the yrs it is tough to manage a team.
Playing everyone sometimes is not possible while trying to improve your team or win.
It is more than a Sunday morning beer league. There is a lot of talent in Coventry and a lot of competitive teams.
My take is you play your best players and hope to find time to play your subs whenever possible because they show up every week too. It is a fine line if you want to be competitive.
It depends on whether you are playing to win or playing to play because u enjoy Sunday ball.
My travel team is the toughest to run because every guy is a good player and deserves to play. I have to sit talented players and do the best I can to get everyone playing time.
Running a team is definitely a THANKLESS Job.

well i think that every team should be playing to win . if that wasn't the case there would be no exempt spots on teams. if people feel left out . maybe they should form a team together so they can have there fun together.

Howie, this has nothing to do with the PUB, your team has been a class act since the start of this league. the team I'm talking about knows exactly who and what I'm talking about. Members in this league have expressed their distaste for teams pushing aside players who have been valued members of a team for the sake of what? All I'm saying is have a bit of respect for the guys who have come out every Sunday for 10 - 15 years and don't throw them aside for a pat on the back at the end of the year. Tuck I understand and respect what your saying but it's not what this league was built on. I stand behind this smack wall to not out our dissatisfied players, but to tell managers and players to have a little class In a recreational activity amongst friends

I can tell u that it is VERY difficult to run a competitive team these days. Having subs is a very important part of the team if you are trying to win. We have 21 guys on our team and everyone is important to Shawn & I because, people have families and other obligation and can’t always dedicate Sunday morning to softball. This league might have been a “beer league” in the past but it is defiantly not anymore…that part we have to except. You start the Best 11 or 12 players you have that day and you try your hardest to get the other guys in. We always made that clear up front and if a player can’t except that, then unfortunately we part as friends and hope the best for that person within another team.

i got an idea, instead of beating around the bush with your indirect accussing grow a sac and air who your talking about, and if you feel mistreated join a church league cuz you probably suck at softball thats why your not playing

This WAS a beer league. It like everything evolves. A beer league is the same as a church league. It means you don't take playing softball seriously which is fine. That type of league still exists but not in Coventry. Go to the Teamworks website and research their West Warwick league. This is the league that best fits what you describe as something you desire. Coventry Sunday Morning (which no where does it say sunday beer league) is for teams that enjoy playing softball but are also attempting to be competetive. Hell you cant even drink at the fields in this league anymore because of the pathetic soccer mom mentality that our society has. Beer league is an old term used by what is probably an aging player with declining skills that should apply to a league more like the one in west warwick. They have nice short fences, girls on some of the teams because they just want to have fun too, and its all about a good time not about winning. As for me, I like what our league has evolved into and I appreciate the efforts of those that are in the leadership roles like Dionne and Smitty (not that Busta character, he's shady), the sponsors like Botelho, Howie, Dionne who help keep teams going and a very specific thanks to Artie for leaving the league. That alone made it a lot stronger and increased it's credibility. This league is considered one of the premiere Sunday morning leagues in the state. Our top 4 to 6 teams could play tournaments together. That is not what you find in a beer league so save that term for what Coventry used to be not what it is today.
