| Yep, going to interesting. Hard to keep 3 weekends open right in the middle of summer for all three weeks of playoffs. If we get a rainy sunday then that will really suck. I guess some people don't have much going on but geeze. We can't not plan anything not knowing how many games we r going to play sitting around all day for 3 weeks in a row.

| If im not mistaken, the first week of playoffs is actually a seeded week. For example: #1 seed in division A will play #2 seed in division A. #1 seed in division B will play #2 seed in division B. #3's play #4's, ect. This was supposed to "shake" things up incase someone is a game out of being a higher seed. Waste of time in my opinion. But who cares what I think.....

| That makes no sense. Let's have a 2nd seeded week after that in case the first seeded week puts a team within a game of a higher seed.

| Then steve is mistaken also. I asked him about the whole 3 weeks of playoffs and he said the first week is like a seeded week. Maybe the 3 league officials should get on the same page, this way correct information can be given when asked. Would be nice to know what the reason is for having 3 weeks of playoffs instead of 2 (like we have been doing for the last 10 yrs). Are the top teams playing that weekend? What seed plays what seed?

| No confusion here. It was explained to the other league officials and coaches in detail. If they are still confused, maybe they should ask. It was also explained in detail in a prior post, it really isn't that difficult to understand.
Playoffs were made 3 GG, because we decided to use the 12th week as a rain make up week, thus cutting the regular season short by 2 games. Lucky for us, we have not needed it yet.
Again, if there is confusion, google "16 team, 3 game guarantee".

| googled 16 team, 3 game guarantee and the empty bracket pages for running a tourney did not answer the damn question at all. We have 15 damn fields to play on and all-day to use them, so why are we spreading out the damn playoffs through 3 weeks?...for an extra game guarantee? So playing another set of games for regular season on July 14th would give 2 more games guaranteed, then 2 more double elimination in the playoffs.
i hope the 3 league officials come up with a clear answer to this because it seems that it is only coming from 1 official at this point.

| First off, we do not have 15 fields that we can use all day. We have 2, Clown and Rutherford and you guys whine about Rutherford.
Secondly, I'm fine with a 16 team double elimination tournament that last 2 weeks. As long as you guys are fine with starting really early in the morning and traveling back and forth between several fields.
If you guys have a problem with this, maybe you should have asked your coach to say something, when this was proposed to all the coaches and on this message board in March.
The league officials agreed to this format and it was explained in detail to the coaches. Joey, I'm sorry Steve still does not understand. It was explained to him.
Since the league officials decided on one league of 16 teams and to make them all playoff eligible, it was almost impossible to do playoffs in 2 days.
It had to be done in 3 days and with a 3gg, there is only 3-4 more games than a double elimination.
BTW, there is no "one" official in charge. I'm just the one who is willing to explain it to you guys. Trust me, if it was up to me only, this league would have been run differently, like it was the past few years.
But that's why there is a committe of 3, so there is no longer any dictatorship.

Go on your vacation and screw the playoffs... It is just softball right? You have a life outside of it so why are you trying to justify when the playoffs need to be? 1) Where the hell was it posted on this message board back in March?
2) Maybe you didnt get Steve's full attention when explaining this 3 week playoff scheme because he was too busy writing out your Hollywood Casino betting slips from the League account?
3) Other Leagues with more teams can get through their playoffs in 2 days by starting at 8am and using 4 fields.

Some sites only keep this as the original posting date, but this one is updated so that is why I did not see the month long playoff format thread explanation. Thank you for pointing that out to me. | Why is my name being brought up in this debate? I told you that I am done posting on here so do not just assume it is me because someone else is asking questions and giving their opinions on the League rules, policies, enforcement, reasons, explanations, communications, feedback, predictions, summaries, spelling/grammar mistakes, and smack talk. Nevermind the Smack Talk because Campo is semi-retired and doesnt give two-Sarago's to talk to the wall.
I back Joeykid's comments about what was explained to us by Steve. I also see the vacation dude's points as well since this is only just rec softball and trying to plan/schedule family vacations around 1-2 weekends is usually easy to do, but when the schedule gets stretched out from the previous years, the plans go right out the window, unless the vacation dude wants to be divorced, then the decision is an easy one to make.
I will say this though, the message board, err, smack talk, was at it's peak when the big boy squads were all in the League. Now, we are left with only SJ in one division and the former Gashouse boys in the other unless you count Mr Big Arms lefty on Champions or Post's expanding waistlines to be contenders. Otherwise, useless to try and talk smack.

Well, To make all three weeks of playoffs you can't plan a vacation for 4 weeks in a row because when you rent a place it goes weekend to weekend. So us dumbasses that want to play and stay married have to choose what to do. Once you single people have a family you will understand.

| I know it's too late for this cuz all teams were guaranteed three games. But do all teams need to make the playoffs? Why not have the bottom two from each division miss the post-season. The top two from each division get byes. Teams 5-12 play in the first round and start double elimination from there. The four losers play elimination games, the four winners play the four teams with byes and so on.
