In 2002 Matthew played 2nd base for the Winnipeg Goldeyes formally known as the Northern League. I played next to Pete Rose Jr. His manager was former national league manager of the year Hal Lanier.
In 2003 he played 2nd base for the Jackson Mississippi Senators of the Central League. While there we won the Central League Championship. Matthew was named the MVP of the championship series. Also in living in Jackson, he instructed at a baseball academy.
In 2004 he started out in Jackson before being traded to San Angelo Texas. He played 2nd base, 3rd base, and some spot starts in the outfield for the Colts. The team finished that season off narrowly missing the playoffs.
In 2005 he was scheduled to play in Chillicothe Ohio as a player/coach. His manager that year would have been former major leaguer Glen Wilson. But Matthew decided to retire before going to play that year, to spend more time with his Family.
