All Day vs No Mercy: All Day has been feeling pretty good about themselves after a season opening victory over Godfather last week. But let’s be real it was the Godfathers. This week it’s a whooooole another level. Do they have enough firepower to keep up with No Mercy? This one could be interesting, because All Day has some pieces to matchup with the preseason favorites. Hugh has shut down shot-o-holic David Williams on more than one occasion. Factor in that No Mercy captain Steve Maggs is limping into the season opener with a calf injury and I also think Stiglitz could make it difficult on shot-a-sarus Tony Montenari – which means Brantley will have to step up offensively. Will the pressure on King Dunn’s shoulders lead to an early No Mercy implosion? I don’t think so. No Mercy just has too many weapons and that means Jay, Kisleck and Trigger Dan have to play out of their minds both offensively and defensively – too many what if’s. I’ll take No mercy. So will Brantley. After losing 20 pounds this offseason, he said if he isn’t leading the BBL in rebounding by the end of the season, he will play the final regular season game without a shirt. I will hold him to that.

KMR vs Godfathers: This game is highlighted by the debut of Reggie Perry. Unfortunately for KMR, Austin and Denny are not playing. With all due respect to Austin and Denny, I’m sure Raz is happier Perry is playing. The reason is Godfather has no one to cover him. You put Chris Davis on Reggie Paul Andrews goes for thirty points. Take out Paul with Davis and Reggie tears Godfather a new one. Even more important, Paul doesn’t have to play defense like last week because Perry and Brooks will lock down Davis and… well…. Davis? Godfather’s biggest issue is that Batman – Davis – doesn’t have a Robin. Is it going to be Double-Double Dontino or Jay Barnes who puts on the red, yellow and green tights (Holy Jelly Roll, Batman! What a horrifying visual for two forty-something-year-olds). Even worse than Dontino or Barnes in tights? What if Robin has to be Jazz Hands? Godfather would be in more trouble than the Joker lowering a tied up Batman into a vat of acid. Sure, it would be very entertaining watching Tommy Guns try put on a toney-winning performance that would only make Lizza Minnelli proud, but I don’t think that would get Godfather in the win column. KMR easy in a landslide.

Air Raid vs. Chumps: This one would have been interesting if both teams had a full squad. Just like every season, the commissioner has once again agitated his corporate arch-rival with a few disrespectful comments. It might be harder to back up his words this season with Bob Vincent motivating the company men. But with out JP, and Air Raid missing Brickhouse Fink, the matchup loses a little of its blockbuster luster. That being said, this game will be the closest of the night. Key is, without Fink, will Air Raid’s role players step up to give the offense enough pop? Will Bob go against his basketball ideals and selfishly score more than 20 points, which he is quite capable of doing. IF he does, or his teammates bring their A game, Air Raid will have a short and sweet debrief meeting at Corporate Headquarters tomorrow. If they don’t, the Chumps have too much firepower to take out the corporate ballers. My pick? Kocher, Matt and Blake wet the bed leaving Bob to do everything. Go Chumps!
