| The EDSUA is holding their spring umpiring clinic on the weekend just before our leage meeting (i.e. April 25, 26, 27). More information is available on their website: www.edmontonsoftballumpires.com
I would encourage people who love the game and actually enjoy umpiring to check it out. I first got invovled with EDSUA back in 2005 because I was wanting to improve my umpiring in our league games. Little did I know that when I registered for the clinic, I was also registering to umpire with EDSUA and Softball Alberta. That turned out to be a happy accident though I didn't think that all the time (there are ups and downs with umpiring). It's become a rewarding hobby for me.
I'm not sure how much the clinic registration costs (it's the registration fee for Softball Alberta plus the EDSUA membership fee). Some years, the EDSUA has had sort of an audit-type program for those that want to attend an umpire clinic but don't want to register (become carded) with Softball Alberta nor become a member of EDSUA. I'm not sure if they still offer this, but it's worth asking the association (see the contact info at the above website).
