| I talked to my bookie on Tuesday night and here are his preseason championship odds. He said he would update these every 2-3 weeks as the season progresses, injuries happen, vacations etc.
As usual, I am not saying I agree with his odds, I just write down what he says. So, starting from the worst odds to the best odds
Chumps 100/1. He wondered what kind of team that Hunt drafted. Hunt definitely has size with Tolleson and newcomer Abe Vanwingerden, but who is going to bear the scoring load on this team. We know Reggie can get shots up and O’Rourke can score as a #2 but how will he do as the main feature on his team. Draft grade C-
Kocher 50/1. We know that Kocher has Kenneth but what does Kocher have after that. He passed on several players to get his main man David Craig back. Kocher has a lot of good role players but if Kenneth is off……………. Draft grade C
Raz 25/1. Brooks and Raz back together again. How will Jed and Brantley co-exist on this team if things don’t go as planned. My bookie has 5/1 odds that these 2 will be at each other’s throats before the 3rd game. Raz ALWAYS gets more out of his teams than anyone else so never know how the pieces will fit together on his teams but he somehow makes it work. Draft grade B-
Godfathers. 12/1 Tom the shooter has surrounded himself with….shooters. He has Rogers to dole out the ball to himself, Heagle, Barnes and bishop. Who is their big man? Tom passed on a couple of opportunities to get so that he could go all Loyola Maramount on the league. We will see how it turns out. Draft grade B-
BVM 8/1. Bob puts the VW boys back together for another run at the championship. Can Bob keep his shoot going like he did in the championship. Will Smitty play to the Air Raid championship level. How will the new guy, Joey, do. Will Denny thrive being away from Raz? How will Sal react to 10+ minutes per game? Draft grade B
No Mercy 5/1. Maggs has 5 guys that can score 15 a game if needed. Cliff will get at least that many cleaning up shots from Dave and Eric as they can throw them up in a hurry. Can Chris Bruce hold this group together and make a run at the championship? My bookie likes their chances to be in the finals. Draft grade B+
Third world 3/1. I questioned my bookie for a long time about putting a rookie coach as the leading contender in the league. Third world seems to have a very well rounded squared. Mr. do everything, Chris davis, along with shooters, Browning and Tony. Not many people have seen Chris Jackson play, so we don’t know what we are getting there.Will Vince overthink himself and make a mess of the team he has drafted. Draft grade A
As usual, I don’t agree with my bookie and I think BVM goes back to back this year. We may start slow but we will put it together by the time the playoffs roll around.
