| There has been a lot complaining about the umpires this year. Some of it legit, some of it just bullshit.These guys are not being paid a kings ransom to officiate these games. We have had some pretty ugly tirades over calls some players have disagreed . Arguing balls and strikes is a non starter and not a winable argument. The verbal barrage that has been levied against some umpires is embarrassing and reflects badly on the league. We have added some new umpires to support the scheduling difficulties of covering veteran umpires who have had job changes.
Another eye sore that has reared its ugly head is the increased throwing of equipment. The spectacle I witnessed last Sunday when the White Sox catcher [ who was wearing the pass around Stewart jersey] air mailed his bat 300 feet over the fence is totally uncalled for and dangerous.
I call on the commissioner to be pro-active in these situations to suspend such players to curb these actions. I also call on him look inside his own organization to address unsportsmanlike actions.
The by-laws prohibit such actions and best interest of baseball clause in the MLB rule book need to be enforced to insure we have quality baseball.
