Team Managers/Players:
This year due to Covid-19 each team will need to follow these guidelines in order to have our league run effectively. Below is the list of guidelines each player and team will need to follow:
• Very important: If you have a fever or are feeling sick please do not come to the fields. Have consideration for the other players since this could cause the whole league to quarantine.
• The league is play at your own risk. If you feel uncomfortable it is your choice to not play and the Palmer Softball Association and Palmer Township cannot be held liable for any illness or medical issues.
• All players and spectators must always social distance more than 6 feet when outside the field of play. It is recommended to keep spectators and children at a minimum. Children should not be left unattended and must stay near an adult at all times. We will not allow groups of children to play this year unattended.
• Catchers must be at least 6 feet away from the batter. Umpires will social distance as well.
• All individuals must hand sanitize upon arrival. Also, all teams must have their own hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes if sharing equipment. All equipment (i.e. bats) must be wiped down prior to sharing.
• All players are recommended to hand sanitize before, during and after each game.
• If a player or staff member tests positive for Covid-19, the league president must be notified immediately. All players on the team with the infected player will need to quarantine for 2 weeks. Games will be rescheduled if possible.
• Only two people and one on deck batter may be in the dugout at any given time. All others must social distance behind the dugout.
• Teams are to leave the playing area immediately after their games are complete. You may congregate at the pavilion or parking lot as long as social distancing practices are being followed.
• Each player who is not following social distancing guidelines will receive two warnings from league officials/umpires and upon the third warning will be asked to leave the complex. That person will be suspended for the remainder of the season.
• Face coverings are recommended but not mandatory for all staff and players.
• Teams will sanitize the balls in between innings. It is also recommended that pitchers carry a sanitized rag to clean the ball after play.
• There should be no shaking of hands or personal contact unless necessary during game play.
• Chewing tobacco, gum, sunflower seeds, and spitting is not allowed during game play.
• Bathrooms will be open, but please practice cleanliness and safety. Please make all attempts to use the bathrooms as little as possible.
• Umpires are recommended to use face coverings and gloves.
• The concession stand will be open but please practice social distancing when in line and waiting for food. There will be one window open to order food and one window to receive your food.
• Concession stand workers will be wearing protective gloves.
Please forward this email to your players. We are living in very different times and we want to keep everyone safe. If you have any questions, please let me know.
