| To all Bumpkinz, past, present, and future. Welcome to the 2021 season.
A quick recap of the past couple years. The 2019 Bumpkinz secured the Championship without the help of our veteran 1B Bradley Stombaugh, due to a "honeymoon", but the team was still able to wrangle in the trophy.
Moving on to the offseason preparing for the 2020 season, what a time to be alive. BOOM. COVID-19, rampant = 2020 season, canceled. The first summer since 2002 without Bumpkinz softball??? What shall we do? Well as some may know, half the team decided to tie the knot or to father future Bumpkinz players. Time was spent rather wisely looking to secure the Bumpkinz dynasty. As 2020 wrapped up, the 2021 season was still in the air. Then... in Spring of 2021, Shields himself informs us that the season IS ON!! Limited to 8 teams this season, the league will play.
Alas, the long off-season has ended. After losing some players and some taking part-time roles, the Bumpkinz have scrapped together a team that will grind for the W. As we are finishing our first month of the 2021 season, heading into an "All-Star break", the Bumpkinz hold a 9-1 record with a few nagging injuries plaguing the team. Yet again, the Bumpkinz persevere.
Hopefully this update recapped most of the excitement from the last 2 years. I am looking forward to seeing everyone out on the field.
