| Lions (3-2) vs Jets (2-1-2) Lions lead season series 1-0
Burgess led the Lions with 2 goals and an assist, Messervey had 1 and 1, Ritcey had 2 helpers and d’Entremont had one. The Lions are tied in second through the first round of the HRHL schedule. They have 13 goals for and 13 against. Defensively they are amongst the elite thus far, offensively they are tied at the bottom. This isn’t surprising as they have had some attendance issues from top end guys. The Lions are middle of the pack with 22 penalty minutes through 5 games. Captain Hartnett has come up big for the Lions in the discussion board, keeping the Lions relevant in the Social Media aspect. Ross continues to lead the Jets, adding 2 goals and an assist this week. I know I mentioned this last week but it bears repeating, Graeme has 10 points on 13 Jets goals and has scored 6 of them. Those are some impressive stats. MacIsaac and Dukey each had 2 assists, Itchy returns from his near death experience enclosed in a bubble and scores one as does MacEachern. Pecarski and Croke add an assist each. The Jets are in that 3 way tie for second and have 13 goals for but just 11 against to lead the league in that category. Worst for scoring but best at keeping them out, they are what we thought they would be, I just think we thought they would not be in a playoff position. The Jets are tied for fewest penalty minutes with 16, led by known goon Croke with 4. No one has stepped up on the Discussion Board for the Jets, quite a shy bunch I guess. I feel Ted has something to say though. Tough call on this one, both teams have sputtered out of the gate scoring wise but the 2 best defensively. Jets have a slight edge with only 11 against. Shootout win for the Lions last time around. MacIsaac/Croke and Proctor vs Ritcey/Taiani and Currie if this one goes to the shootout. Ritz is magic in the shootout and if anyone is missing Burgess moves up.
Lions 2 – Jets 1 SO
Flames (4-1) vs Oilers (2-3) Flames lead season series 1-0
Rookie management of the Flames is feeling great after the first round is complete. They lead the league at 4-1 and have 4 of the top 5 scorers. They also scammed the entre league into thinking Manson was a third rounder, even tried to get him into the fourth, enjoy your 1 season out of the first round bud. Defenceman, 1 point out of the scoring lead, impressive. This week their other first rounder Bray stepped up with a 2 goal 1 assist performance, Manson and Fougere each had 1 and 2, Baxter 1 and 1, Strong netted 1 and solo apples went to Coombs and Young LeBlanc. Watching the Flames you get the feeling they are a tough team, big, strong and fast yet they are tied with the Jets for the fewest penalty minutes, maybe we need to add disciplined to that description. The Flames lead the league with 22 goals, almost an entire goal per game more that their nearest competitor. 16 goals against is just a bit better than average but with Grease in the pipes everyone expects that to improve. Leon comes out strong with a post in the discussion board this week, he used AI and went 2 for 3, even AI struggles when picking ties. I am curious if he picks against the Flames if his Chat GPT tells him they will lose? With their record he may never have to find out. The Oilers are struggling out of the starting blocks again this season. This week only 1 goal, scored by Veinot and assisted by Corkill and Redden. The Oilers have the second most penalty minutes and if you take out the misconduct Longo is the top tough guy with 4. The leagues disciplinarian has the most penalties on his team, hmmm. 16 goals for puts the Oil just above average but 19 against and a minus 3 makes for a non-playoff spot team. Look for the Oilers to host a defensive responsibility camp soon. They have placed yours truly in a 30 day fat camp in the hopes that 25 lost lbs can help with slowing the opposing forwards down. On the plus side, Mike Bent is leading the league in goals and points and terrorizing goalies with his newly repaired hands. 3 members of the Oilers have contributed to your reading enjoyment as Webber, Longo and Sto have all been regulars to post this season. Last time these teams met the Flames dominated the first and held on in the second, look for the Oilers to come out ready this time.
Oilers 14 – Flames 0
Ratpack (1-4) vs Stars (3-2) Stars lead season series 1-0
Here is a weird one, States scored the Ratpacks only goal, assists went to Cleveland, Glazebrook and Parsons. I guess we give 3 apples per goal now. Any of the 3 of you want to give me a call and let me know that you didn’t actually get an assist on that goal? The Ratpack are sitting at the bottom of the standings with just one win in 5 games. Their 15 goals is below average and the 20 against is the league worst. That said they have had some attendance issues, starting with captain and top selected D McNeil. With just 16 penalty minutes the Rats are kinda soft but not States, he leads the league for guys without a misconduct and has half of the Rats total penalties. He also leads the team in goals so hard to discipline him. Matty is the only contributor to the discussion board for the Rats and I am sorry to say but I can never get through one of his writeups. I think have ADHD every time I start to read the songs he posts. Makes me wonder how many of you actually read what I put on here. Matty post some Shania Twain and I will read it all. Pudge you are on pace for 10 games, remember you need 13 to guarantee your spot next season. Getting to be a habit. Rookie Gilbert is starting to get a feel for the league, and what did that feeling tell him? It told him that if you skate faster than everyone else you get lots of points. This week he did both with a goal and 3 assists. All of a sudden the top rookie and top D race looks like a competition again. Iceton, O’Hearn and Haverstock all scored once for the Flames. Two of those goals were significant, O’Hearn’s was his first ever HRHL point and Havey’s kept his now 28 game goal scoring streak alive. Burgess/Manson and States are all tied in second now with 3. Ryan added an assist to round out the Stars scoring. The Stars sit tied for second and have 18 goals for and 18 against through he first round. The 18 for are second best in the league, the 18 against are only 2 from the bottom. Getting a regular goalie might help. With 28 penalty minutes the Stars lead the league and rookie Iceton is the biggest culprit for minors. I think getting 4 points in his rookie debut then only 3 for the next 4 games has him on edge. Captain Ryan is the only Star who contributes to the discussion board and is must read weekly content despite Longo calling him out for being stale, you post 25 times a season and see how stale it gets. I don’t need AI to tell me the Stars should win this game but with attendance and goalie status up in the air who knows.

Side Notes:
I missed the argument about what island is referred to as the island but I can assure you it is regional. To newfies it is Newfoundland, more often know as the rock to us mainlanders. To PEIlanders it is obviously PEI. To Nova Scotians it is split, could be PEI or it could be Cape Breton. I lived in Vancouver for a couple years back in the 50’s and to them it is Victoria island. To a sweetheart like Marty Taiani it is wherever Love Island is being shot this season. So many possibilities. To me it has always been PEI.
Wow, Jays, just wow.
Keep it up and they are unbeatable.
Hockey fantasy draft was this weekend. I choose third and got Kucherov, seems like a steal.
NHL starts Tuesday, I am awake till 2am every night until June now.
Are you still in your NFL survivor pool? Buffalo screwed a lot of guys last night. Zero undefeated teams in the NFL already and the 72 Dolphins celebrate before the clocks change.
Does my heart good to see Baltimore suck. The Steelers are bad and they might wrap up that division by Halloween.
Dodgers look scary, they just continue to do it when they need to.
Bad Bunny for the halftime show and half the world loses their mind. I miss Janet Jackson’s nips.
I am trying to be a better person these days man it is tough. 90 percent of the thoughts that come to my head are negative and scathing.
Diddy gets 4 years, isn’t it a badge of honour for a rapper to do jail time?
WNBA is in the finals, anyone watching? Seriously curious. I see highlights on sports shows but haven’t seen any games. Longo you are a big fan of girls sports do you guys sit down and watch the finals like you would the Jays game tomorrow?
A zoo in Denmark wants people to donate their pets for food. Got any surplus chickens or guinea pigs anyone?
WTF happened with Mark Sanchez, beats the shit out of a dude and gets stabbed. Can’t wait for that story.
Penn State losing to UCLA is a huge upset.
Who will win the Gavin McKenna sweepstakes, my money is on San Jose. They could be incredible in 5 years. Really hoping my Islanders can pull it off two years in a row.
Standings:
9 – Longo 8 – TimR, Sto 7 – MacQueen, PGuy, Chad, Skinny, AI Leon, Grayson, TimH, Ross, Croke 6 – Webs, Grease, Ted, Todd 5 – Priest, Logan, Tony, Taiwan, Perry 4 – GHegs, Prodigy, Murphy, Kerr, Dukey 3 – Goalie29

| Week six.
One full cycle of games in with the second rotation about to begin.
The league has remained pretty tight with three teams essentially tied for second place only two points off the Flames’ league-leading pace. The defending champion Oilers haven’t quite clicked yet but have way too much talent to not get things going soon. Similarly, the last place RatPack have been a bounce or two away from wins in almost every game so far this year. Things are bound to click for them soon as well.
When Commish Webber speaks, smart folks know to listen. As such, this week’s musical odyssey is all about answering the quintessential Centennial question: “Whose bench have your skates been under?”
Bring on the Shania tunes. On to the games…
Lions (3-2-0) EVEN and tied for 2nd place @ Jets (2-1-2) +2 and 4th place
The early game is a beaut, with two teams coming in hot off big wins last week. The Lions, who have already experienced a bunch of highs and lows this season, seem to be hitting stride. While they may have taken the long way to near the top of the league standings, they know their HartCats management team are sticking together and still have what it takes to run a winner. They believe they are “STILL THE ONE”:
Yeah, looks like we've made it Look how far we've come, my baby We mighta took the long way We knew we'd get there some day
They say, "I bet they'll never make it." But just look at us holding on We’re still together, still going strong, oh
The Jets have also proved early season naysayer wrong thus far and feel like they are about to really take flight. Already flying high after last week’s big win, Croke and Duke have the guys in the room believing the sky is the limit and the only way their season is going is “UP”:
Up, up, up Can only go up from here (Up, up) Up, up Up where the clouds gonna clear (Up, up) Up, up There's no way but up from here
This one will be tight, but the Meowy Taianis scratch and claw their way to a win to start the night.
Lions 4 – Jets 3
Flames (4-1-0) +6 and 1st place @ Oilers (2-3-0) -4 and 5th place
The sandwich skate this week is a good ol’ Battle of Alberta dupe.
The Flames have had a near dream start to their new management’s tenure, though the other franchises n the league still feel like they can compete with the RedHotz. That’s all to say that despite some savvy drafting and excellent early results, other team are still unified in thing “THAT DON’T IMPRESS ME MUCH”:
I've known a few guys who thought they were pretty smart But you've got being right down to an art You think you're a genius, you drive me up the wall You're a regular original, a know-it-all
Oh-oh, you think you're special Oh-oh, you think you're something else Okay, so you're a rocket scientist That don’t impress me much
The defending champs have had a frustrated start to the year, but Skinner and Veinot are still confident they have the right players to get things turned around. It’s only a matter of time before the various men in orange get things going and start feeling good:
Let's go, [Oil]s Come on
I'm goin' out tonight I'm feelin' alright Gonna let it all hang out Wanna make some noise Really raise my voice Yeah, I wanna scream and shout
Another tight one at 9:00pm, I think. The Flames stay hot.
Flames 4 – Oilers 3
Ratpack (1-4-0) -5 and 6th place @ Stars (3-2-0) EVEN and tied for 2nd place
The west coaster this week feature two clubs at opposite ends of the standing both coming off tight losses that featured empty-net goals. Despite their early season struggles from a results perspective, the Trappy Chappies feel good about their group and haven’t gotten discouraged. The boys in the fancy new unis know that “LIFE’S ABOUT TO GET GOOD”:
Oh, life's about joy (joy) Life's about pain (pain) It's all about forgiving and the will to walk away I'm ready to be loved (loved) And love the way I should (should) Life's about, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good Oh, life's about to get good Oh, life's about to get good (Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na)
The Shiny Brights have had more ups than downs this young season and look like potential champs at regular intervals. But they’ve also taken their lumps a couple of weeks and need to start handing out more “BLACK EYES” and stop shedding “BLUE TEARS”. It’s “no more excuses” time for the T & T Twinklers:
Black eyes, I don't need 'em Blue tears, give me freedom Black eyes, all behind me Blue tears will never find me now
Definitely found my self esteem Finally I'm forever free to dream No more crying in the corner No excuses, no more bruises
Playing a hunch here that the RatPack finally put together a full game effort and dull the Stars’ shine in the late game.
RatPack 4 – Stars 3
The Lunn’s Mill Beer Co. Stewtenni-Ale HRHL POWER RANKINGS after WEEK 5.
6. RatPack (holding steady down here, but it’s all part of the plan) 5. Oilers (down 2 spots from #3) 4. Jets (up 1 spot from #5) 3. Stars (down a couple spots from #1) 2. Lions (up 2 spots from #4) 1. Flames (back on top and up 1 spot from #2)

| I couldn’t get AI to do what it did last week for me. It talked about how Dan Fougere and the Flames would struggle against McDavid and the Oilers. AI was right there, but no help for me this week. So I’ll have to make the picks without it. I’ll try again next week.
Lion vs the Jets I’m taking the Jets because they have a slight edge in the goals against department.
Flames vs Oilers As for whether I would pick against my team if AI suggested that I should, I will always pick the Flames. I may however pick us the win in a tie sometimes. Not this week, I think we will win in regulation this week.
Stars vs Ratpack This game will come down to which team can limit the scoring against. I think the stars outscore the Ratpack and win.
Here’s to hoping I don’t completely blow it this week without AI

| 1st round of games complete. NHL started, Jays looks unstoppable, Football remains frustrating as hell. Sophie Gladert looks to become to first 5 time WNBA champion. Did I make that last one up. Yes. Did I steal that joke from Shane Gillis. Yes.
Lions look to win 2 in a row for the first time this year. d’Entremont asked me on Thursday if I was playing Friday nights this year…Glad my play is making such a memorable impact on him. Ingraham misses last week with what he describes as Menstrual Cramps, is that why the ice was cover in blood last week?
Defensive juggernaut Jets also looking to put together their first win streak of the season. Perry, Graeme and Ted were annoying as hell to play against last week in their win over the Oilers. I found it odd that Orser and Longo decided to exchange chocolate chip cookie recipes midgame but no 10 mins come out of it. I’m taking the Lions in this one Lions 3 Jets 2
Bray has his Hattrick stripped away like the conservatives stripped away our ability to walk in the park. (Vote Bray 2028). I’m still hearing some confusion over the LeBlanc’s. There’s the Cute one, the Cuter one and the Pretty one…. Not sure how I can make it anymore clear than that. Newbie Newcomb misses his 2nd game in a row. Have the pressures of Friday night lights gotten to him? I pegged him as a possible 3rd rounder. 3rd rounders need to play more than 15 games!
Is there such a thing as reverse anorexia? My scale says I’m fat, my wife says I’m fat, my kids say I’m fat. But when I look in the mirror all I see is 1989 Arnald Schwarzenegger. Lots of talk of when Veinot is going to break out, but keep your eye on the Oilers secret weapon, rookie Mike Daly. He hasn’t got a goal yet but once he figures out those Centennial bounces, I think they are going to come in bunches. Oilers 5 Flames 0
Nothing Stale about Timmy Ryan post/play or chips so far this year. He’s got a PPG he posts keep me motivated to one day pick up a first star of the week. And the chip selection has been phenomenal. Only thing stale on the Stars is Havey as he continues his Krammer like dominance of the rest of us.
Ratpack remind me of my Fantasy Football team. On paper they look really good. Then you look at the standing and there 1-4. Look for Gallant and McNeil to each pop their first of the season this week. There’s a lot of hockey talent and a guy named Rick on this team. Will they be able to chew there way out of the basement? Stars 3 Ratpack 2

| Weekly 3 stars…….the 2 and 1 edition
3. Bray , 2 goals and 1 assists in the dirty flames 6-4 win over the stars last week . A super nice guy he apologizes after he rips a goal by you. Forming the leagues strongest line ,this player does it all scores, sets up plays and even back checks. I can get behind the vote bray in 28 campaign
2. Ross, the comeback player of the year, scores 2 adds an assist in the lions destruction of the oilers last week. This guy must’ve been hiring Andy O”Brien in the off season cause he’s on a heater. This player seemed to have glens number last week , a feat only a few dozen men can say. He’s keeping the jets near the top of the standings for sure!!
1. Burgess, 2 goals and 1 assist in the lions big win last week over the rattraps. Arguably the leagues best all around player this guy leads the lions in keeping competitive. A two way threat who is feeding Ritcey and Messervey all day and is a menace in the faceoff dot and a scorer and elite passer. What a player , and this weeks first star!!

| Notes…..
- flames vs stars had a playoff feel to it last week and it was only game 5, a great game only the wrong team won
-finally I have a guy who skates like I do and can keep up to me in Gilbert . This guy is prime to win some hardware in the league. Scored the goal of the year last week
- strong with a beautiful shot and goal roaring up the wing last week
- glad the jays won , but I hope to never see another bullpen game again in the playoffs, that was chaos
- at work yesterday I saw more brand new bluejay hats then ever before, fuckin bandwagon fans
- Logan is quietly putting up and MVP caliber start for the lions. That defence is leakier than Eddie’s bowels on the way to hockey . He’s been that good
- habs hammer red wings last night, there’s a team that is on the rise, Habs well coached and the leagues youngest team
- my family doctor retired and we got assigned a nurse practitioner. She’s amazing, we had to meet her and she’s asked us about our lifestyles. Things were great till she asked me how many beer I drink a week. Well is it hockey season? Baseball playoffs? Football? Sunny? Friday? Saturday? Am I golfing? She says so a social drinker? Yes perfect
- turning 50 is fuckin odd. Not only do you feel like an old cocksucker you get weird shit in the mail. Example I got a package, where you take a shit, scoop some out with the little provided shovel seal it and mail it to the lab. Imagine being the fucker who gotta open that. Wait Canada post is on strike ? Do I send it via courier?
- now that Dan has his soul mate like his buddy grease these two are on fire. The love of a good woman is powerful shit.
- question though…….when does the soul mate stage pass and she becomes your old lady? Asking for A friend

| notes…..
- Canada post on strike again? The company is hanging on by a thread and the union wants more more more. I’d bet the majority of the workers aren’t in favour of this.
- this fuckinCarney goes on more vacations then Dave Walsh
- Jackson Lacombe signs 8 years at 72 million Who?
- that wnba is a joke , I do not like them at all, thinking they are relevant . Get the fuck outta here.
- chads young guy was pumped he got to root through the chips. Sometimes I feel rather awkward when kids yell oh there’s the chip and candy man , parents look at you like a fuckin pedo lololol
- dunbrack , they’ve been working on that fuckin bridge for 8 months and nothing seems any different except traffic is longer. Fucked me up last week driving home , they switched lanes weird.
- is Mac jones a starter once purdy returns
- Alex pereira knocks one of those bearded weird Russians out to become UFC champ again. He is a beast, loves to fight and will fight anyone anytime.
- I fuckin towered over that little ref last week , I felt like Tristan over everyone else
- what’s the McDavid two year deal about? Get me a goalie or I’m gone?
Beer of the week…….9 locks tangerine blonde. These babies are so delicious and hit the spot anytime. They were my summertime favourite and recommend to all to try!!

| Lions/ jets….. this is a tough one, it possibly could end in a 0-0 tie with these two brilliant goalies. That is a possibility but im going with burgess to snipe a late one to lead the lions to a 1-0 win.
Oilers/Flames…. Gotta go with the flames 4-3 here with “The Line 4.0” getting 3 of the goals in some fashion and red hot strong adds the other one . Greases fan club come and cheer him on and he saves the day !!
Stars/Rattraps…… the stars rebound after last weeks loss with a 4-2 win in the west coaster. Havey with two , torrid O”Hearn with one and Poirier newly promoted scores the other. Dan gets the job done with 33 saves

| Well shit..the streak continues. Now at 56 straight games without a goal. Even put myself on forward last week to try and break it. Almost had one. Marty thought I was about to turn on the Mcdavid after burners for a Breakaway goal but unfortunately they were already on and it wasn't the Mcdavid speed ones, it was #3 fat option from Ice Hockey on original Nintendo speed. Honest mistake.
Lions should be 4-1 after the first round. Would have won against the Stars in a shootout if Timmy Ryan didn't bicycle kick the puck into the net. Clear as day.
What a weekend. Lions win Friday night. Jays win Saturday and Sunday. And the Commanders stomped the Chargers Sunday. Also won a few hundred on bet365. Repeat again this weekend coming up I hope. Adrian Kempe will never be on a parlay slip again for me though. Team scored 5 goals and he couldn't get me 1 point? Come on man.
First round was fun. Flew by. Bent scoring at will. 2026 first rounder Triston Manson showed up how to defend and score. HRHL insiders Austin Skinner, and the guy who sneaks in for the chips, told the news the Lions are just starting to heat up. League is on notice.
Zachary Bolduc and Oliver Kapanen both on an 82 goal pace for the Habs. I'll be honest though..probably only one of then will get all 82. Dobes is better than Montembault I think. Both just placeholders til Fowler is ready. Hutson gonna get 10 per? Probably.
Mcjesus with the hometown discount and they went on a spending spree. Did they sign the right guys? Skinner's first game didn't show any promise that's for sure.
DAAAAAAA Yankees lose. Jays on fire. Vladdy owns the Yankees. Clement,Lukes,Straw. Man those guys are fun to watch.
Don't like the Giants but it was fun to watch Skattebo and Dart tune up the Eagles. Daboll went to the blue tent and told the doctor Dart was fine. Probably concussed. That tush push should be banned. It's offside every time. Skattebo reminds me of Mike Alstott. Just bullying his way through tackles.
Taylor Swift wrote a song about Travis Kelce's dick. He either has a huge one or the other dummies she's been with had small ones. Not that I know anything about that...
Lions are 3rd in the HRHL site standings. But 2nd in the Lunns Mill power rankings. Must be some trickery going on with the League site. I blame Longo.
On an old rap kick. Tupac All Eyez on Me album is still amazing. U Can't C Me could be the best song on the double album. Lots of bangers on there.
Gotta do picks I guess..
Lions vs Jets Two top goalies this far. I think my streak continues. Grayson, Ritcey, d'Entremont all score. Lions win 3-1.
Battle of Alberta. Is tonight the night Veinot pops off? Yes he scores 2. Buuuut the Flames score more. Flames win 5-3
Stars vs Rats This one will be close. Havey and Timmy get 3 points each. Jared and Desi get 3 points each. Rats move up in the power rankings. Rats win 6-5.
