| Lions (6-6) vs Oilers (6-5-1) Season series tied 1-1
This really sucks for Turple but points for spares do not count. Turple had the game of the year for a D man, unfortunately for the Jets it came not for his team but for the Lions. 4 goals and an assist. Messervey had 2 goals, Bent also spared and had 2 assists. Powell had 2 helpers and is liking all the guys who have donned the bird cages and bubbles the past few weeks. He would like the rest of you dummies not wearing one to ask Santa for one. Longo was the third call up to the Lions and he had an assist as did Billard, Hartnett and Taiani. Every person watching the games on Friday night was wondering the same thing…why don’t the Lions and the Jets work out a trade, Jets need forward help and Lions need defensive help. Lions drafted forwards with their first 5 picks, that is how you end up with the leagues worst GAA. Jets selected 6 guys who play D and both captains do as well, that is how you end up with the leagues fewest goals. Seems like a match made in heaven. The Oilers got their captain back, it was a surprise to the entire team. Either Skinner didn’t know or this is the longest he has kept a secret in his life. Veinot limited his ice time in his first game back yet still managed to score 2 and 2 to lead the Oilers over the first place Stars. Bent scored 3 and that is his lead in the scoring race. LeBlanc sniped 2 and that is his lead in the Rocket Richard race. Skinner was so excited for the return of Veinot that he had his best game in 2 years scoring 1 and assisting on another. Corkill added 2 apples, Sto scored 1 and single assists went to Longo, Morry, Mousek, Redden and Webber. Only 1 point separates these teams, should be a close one.
Oilers 5 – Lions 3
Jets (4-6-2) vs Stars (8-4) Season series tied 1-1
The Jets were shut out, did I mention Turple scored 4 sparing for the Lions. He is also the league leader in scoring in our other league. I know I said this before but Jets management needs to figure out how to use this guy. Gallant scored his first of the year for the Stars. He had 14 last year for the Oilers but only 3 the year before on the now defunct Wolfpack team. Time will tell but maybe he is one of these guys that goes good year bad year good year. Keep that in mind as you do your mock drafts next season. Larry also had 2 assist to lead the Stars. Gilbert, Haverstock and Murphy each scored 1 and 1. Murphy did it on 1 leg. Bright and Holt each scored 1 and apples went to MacDonald, McNeil and Poirier. No Christmas beer and pizza for the Stars this season as Real Deal is on his annual November alcohol hiatus. Poirier is doing his best to keep the team afloat but it takes a lot to book those team cottages and hire dancing girls at the Shore Club. Want to know why the Stars sit alone in first place? Team Chemistry. The Stars have more messages on their What’s App page every Friday night post game than the rest of the league does all season. No better owner in the league than JB. Gilbert is playing with a broken face, Murphy Is playing with a torn achilles, Clark hasn’t eaten a decent meal in 3 months yet they all keep battling. First vs last here, hard to pick anything but the Stars.
Stars 4 – Jets 1
Flames (7-5) vs Ratpack (5-6-1) Season series tied 1-1
We found out 1 thing this week, Baxter with a goal and 3 assists and Bray with 1 and 2 don’t need Fougere to perform. Will we find out is he needs them when he gets demoted to the bottom line this week after skipping the game to go to the Vogue Christmas party. I know it is true, I saw the FB photo evidence. Coombs doubled his points with 2 apples this week and single goals were scored by Newcombe and Phil. Last week Manson was asked to come fight Donald Brashear and this week he is receiving props for being the coach of the nicest bunch of kids in a High School tournament. Quite the double life this kid lives, just hope you meet the nice one in the corners. Glazebrook led the Rat tails to victory this week with a goal and an assist. Parsons scored 1 and single assists went to Hill and States. Robinson nabbed a shut out this week and has dropped his GAA to a league leading 2.50. Don’t sleep on this guy, his name is on the Vezina, been a few years but he has it in him. Halfway through the season and the Prodigy has 7 goals, last season he led the league with 31. Can he manage 24 in the second half? I believe in him and think it starts this week.

Side Notes:
Halfway through the schedule and it is very tight, no clear leaders and no clear bottom feeders. Looks like an exciting back half of the season.
I called out Ovechkin last week and he scores 5 just to mock me. Not the last time I will say something stupid on here.
Every skater on the Stars has hit the twine this season, no other team has less than 3 guys with zero goals.
US Thanksgiving this week, great day of football and poker. Three day work week is nice too.

When students love a teacher enough to come watch him play old man hockey you know he is a great guy. Longo where are your students, Glazebrook, Ritcey, McNeil? We could fund the entire league from ticket sales if you guys are as popular as Bray.

3. Venoit, returns secretly to little fanfare, and propels his team to a big victory over the first place stars. 2 goals and two assists in the oilers 9-6 victory. Getting your top player back healthier can never hurt your teams chances and it didn’t Friday night !!
2. Robinson, a 30 save shutout lowering his sparkling gAA in his victory over the jets. This player has given his team a chance every Monday Wednesday and Friday nights in the leagues I see him. Drafted late this player has been the best thing on the rattraps this year!!
Definitely better then those ugly sweater award winners jerseys
1. Turple, while his points don’t count in his personal stats , they sure do count in the weekly 3 star voting. 4 goals and 1 assist in the lions destruction of the flames last week. This player is coming off an MVP season and is keeping the jets in the playoff hunt

I'm confident Turple, Murphy, Billard, Gilbert, Manson to name just a few could all be the top D on the Leafs.
Landman season 2 is back on. Great show.
Local skip Christina Black off to the finals in the Olympic Trials. Would be awesome to see her win. Saw some of the curlers downtown today. So hot.

- murican thanksgiving sees americas team win to stay in thr hunt over the chiefs.
- if the chiefs miss the playoffs it will be odd not having them there

- Wednesday night 45+ update, down 3-0 we roared back for a 10-6 win led by scoring machine turples 3 goals about 4 assist performance , what a week.
Also Matt Robinson with his second straight shutout in the Stewtennials 6-0 win. This kid seeing the puck right now
- jays spend 210million on Dylan cease. He’s in the running for the cy young a couple years ago, kinda has a weird windup. 30 million a year to work every 4/5 days is sick work if you can get it.

| Lions/oilers…….the resurgent oilers are feeling like a P.I.M.P as they strut into this one vs the lions . This team scores goals and they won this one 5-3 over the lions . Returning Venoit still looked like he can fly and he buries two for the second straight game . Skinner and Longo and john Daly round out the scoring. Assist machine weebbber (zero goals) adds three more in the win
Stars / jets…….both teams coming off a loss so this one is a momentum builder. Stars take this one 3-1in their first 9:00 game of the year. Red hot Larry, Murphy and Brad”the fishbowl” MacDonald do the scoring. Dan is given the night off for load management so special guest goalie does the job for the stars.
Rattraps/flames……the 10:00 game scares me for the traps attendance so I’ll go flames win 4-2. Second rounder Baxter scores two, AI Leon and Manson do the scoring and grease oils up the pass and makes 24 saves in the win .

We’re half-way through the regular season and standings are tighter than my pants post-Thanksgiving Dinner.
After forgetting to get my early game pick in last week, I am making sure I get this sorted in time this week, regardless of how busy work is.
Early Game: Skinner’s Winners are still riding high based on Veinot’s miraculous recovery. They slip past a tenacious Meowy Taianis squad. Oilers win 3-2.
Sandwich Skate: The Stars shoot their way past the Turbo-Turples. Shiny Brights prevail 3-2.
West Coaster: The RatPack gnaw their way to a tight win versus the RedHots. Scrappy Chappies win 3-2.
