| Flames (11-5) vs Ratpack (7-8-1) Flames lead season series 2-1
The Christmas season did not slow Bray down, he dominated for the Flames with a regulation goal and an assist then he was the only shooter able to score in the shoot out. Baxter and Newcombe each scored once for the Flamboyants and assists went to Coombs and Justin L. The Ratpack dominated the Jets from stars to finish. Led by Flinn and Prodigy’s 2 goals each. MacQueen and Parsons each had 2 assists and singles went to Cleveland, McNeil and States. These 2 teams are the only teams with wins in 2 weeks in the HRHL so it should be a great game with the leagues hottest going at it.
Flames 5 – Ratdicks 2
Jets (5-9-2) vs Stars (9-6) Stars lead season series 2-1
Ritz scored in his Jets post trade debut with an assist to Ross. Unfortunately for the Jets that was all the offence they could muster. Might take a few games for the new linemates to gel, I wonder if there is enough season left for that to take place. The Stars forfeited their game, more on this in the Side Notes.
Stars 4 – Jets 3
Oilers (8-6-1) vs Lions (9-6) Oilers lead season series 2-1
No game for the Oilers so nothing to write home about. I did offer them all free beers to come watch the other 2 games, exactly no one took me up on the offer. Well Mike Bent did join me but not because of the free beer. Burgess took the entire Lions organization on his shoulders to grab 1 point with his 3 goal performance but sadly for Lions management he wasn’t a shooter in the skills competition.
Oilers 4 – Lions 2

Side Notes:
Lots of complaining about me rescheduling the Oilers game and telling other teams they couldn’t reschedule their games. Let’s try to clear that up a bit.
The Stars forfeited their game, Oilers could take the 2 points and go home. Oilers management decided they would rather play the game than take the 2 points so ice was found and the game was rescheduled.
No other team was ever told they couldn’t reschedule, they were told they could not cancel the game and each take 1 point. They were told on Wednesday it was too late to reschedule as the refs and ice would need to be paid for with a cancellation that late.
This schedule came out before the draft. League meetings were held in August and it was clear to all captains then that we would be playing on Dec. 26th. No complaints until the week of.
Steelers suck but so does Baltimore. If they can contain Henry they have a chance, if he goes off for 215 and 4 TDs I don’t like our chances.
Why does Canada struggle with Latvia, Finland beat them 8-0?
This has been the most boring Christmas season of my life. People enjoying their families sucks.

Yesterday was the Baseball solstice, exactly halfway between the last games and the first spring training game.
I played the Macs alumni game Saturday, no I am not alumni but they needed guys. I figured a medium paced game with a few younger guys but mostly older who haven’t played much. Turns out I was the oldest by a mile. One kid I had a chat with was telling me I was 6 years older than his dad. 3 kids who play University hockey and 3 more that play in the new senior league. 90 minutes of hell. I was exhausted for 24 hours afterwards. Getting old sucks. Taiani, you are celebrity alumni, where the hell were you? Oh yeah, only 13 skaters, 7 on the other team 6 on ours, played 4 on 4 to open it up a little for all the fast fuckers. First and last alumni game.
New spares rule coming this week.
Trying to get some ice for the 3 makeup games, one issue is getting ice is almost impossible at a regular hour and another issue is the refs don’t want to come for 3 separate 1 hours ice times. Might be some on a Saturday in February at the Forum but that means guys who coach will likely miss. The other options are to make the games next time these teams play 4 points games or just go to a 24 game season and put the $$ towards the banquet or socks.

3. Coombs and Leblanc, these two played the whole game in the flames close win last week. That’s quite a feat to suck it up when you are tired and stay on the ice to help your team win. The flames have a couple of battlers there on the back end and it showed last week in the victory.
2. Flinn, scores two in the resurgent Rattraps big win last week. This guy is providing the traps the secondary scoring they envisioned when they selected him. With the top line starting to click , this other scoring source is the key to playoff success.
1. Stars management, last week on Boxing Day management decided work life balance was key so we forfeited the game. We didn’t ask to have it rescheduled , we were content to lose. This group is confident in the teams ability so we thought we’d eat the two points . It’s team unity like this that will lead to playoff success. Well done gents
